The hard-core Packers fans - or those simply looking for an offseason football fix - who will spend some time watching the NFL Network's wall-to-wall coverage of the Scouting Combine next week in Indianapolis might see some familiar faces on the Lucas Oil Stadium field during player workouts.

Green Bay special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum and cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. will be among the assistant coaches from around the league helping conduct the on-field drills of the prospects, an up-close position that has its benefits.

"It's a pressure-packed situation for those guys, because they know all the eyes in the NFL are looking at them, and this is their chance to make a statement," Slocum said. "You can really see how they respond."

Slocum will work as an on-field drill sergeant, so to speak, for the fourth straight year. He worked with the linebackers for two years before switching to special teamers - kickers, punters and snappers - last year.
