To add to what AKCheese has said about how the NFL has now made practices in Hawaii essentially closed to the public, unless you got cash, I say they should bring down the hammer shut it down and just be done with it. The Pro Bowl is not a game, it's essentially the MLB all-star game reduced to just the homerun derby. Plus who was stupid enough to make the team selection part of a fantasy draft? That's the stupidest thing ever invented in sports. If Roger Goodell, who has talked of shutting down it already, did decide to do that, it would be the only thing good he ever did in his tenure.

Here's the way the pro bowl must be fixed (but won't be) if it is to go on:

    1. No more pro bowl before the superbowl, because no more good players ever come to it. Make it mid March so that all qualifying players are totally healthy.

    2. Go back to NFC vs AFC

    3. Take off all restriction on defensive players and let them hit hard, sack the QB, and play tight man coverage when they want to.

    4. Let the head coaches call their own playbook

    5. Whichever team wins, pay each and all of the players of that team 10 million dollars in non-taxable cash so that way every best player in each conference has a super incentive to come.

#3 will never happen..and for good reason. Can you imagine if a teams star player went down with a totally preventable and pointless injury? It's already a risk in non-contact as we've seen with Jordy.

#5 That's a lot of money. Where's all that coming from? I'd rather see that money go to concussion research, prevention and treatment.

Abolish it or just don't watch - it's all the same to me.
    This was a joke, right?

How about distributing that money to the fans who actually have been able to stomach watching this annual embarrassment?

You want to see it end and yet you bring up ways to compromise?

I never cared for it and now that it's no longer AFC vs NFC, I really don't care for it.

There is still a Pro Bowl game being played? :coffee:

I would rather watch a "Toilet Bowl Game". Pit the worst 2 teams in the NFL, the "winner" of the game gets the #1 pick in the draft, plus the 2 teams would get the added bonus of being able to practice for that extra month +

Guessing Kohler would sponsor it. :whistling:

I may have started the thread, but who's thinking about the pro bowl in late Sept/early Oct?

Years ago I watched the Pro Bowl. I wasn't a football game as much as "Let's try to interview as many players on the sidelines as we can while ignoring what is going on in the field."

I have visions of a reporter, on the field, chasing after a running back chugging to the end zone, while dogging opponents, just to ask the player "What are you feeling right now."

    I would watch that!

Its meaningless. I wish there was a way to make it meaningful like the MLB All Star game. They have it right. NBA All Star game is "fun", but thats about it. Pro Bowl is a damn snooze fest.

I think abolish is a little harsh, I'd just get rid of it
