They shipped off Nelson (should have kept him and let Cobb go) but 12 is the one and only person McCarthy can't toss under the bus, so they have slowly gotten rid of his friends around him and cut him out of the personnel discussions to isolate him. The difference is that 12 is the only thing keeping McCarthy employed and he is not as indestructible as Favre was. There is no future HOF guy behind the guy McCarthy is at odds with to step in this time, unless you really believe Kiser is some sort of diamond in the rough (despite overwhelming evidence otherwise). When Rogers is finally done or tosses in the towel, its back to being happy with 8-8 seasons ala Greg/Infanty/Magic Man era. Would be nice to have another championship in this 30 year run of HOF QBs that's about to end, especially in a division as weak as ours. But realistically, Rogers chose the money and (I hope) the fan support over rings, so he likely will not see another one.

[QUOTE="Phazael, post: 792479, member: 13193"] Every season he has been here he has essentially had to train a new receiving corps, for the most part. Of our most veteran WRs, Jordy got dealt to Oakland, Cobb is taking his mid-season powder, and Adams is actually playing well for us. For the third year in a row we are starting a completely new group of TEs (we have not had consistency at the position in years and we dumped Cook who was good to blow money on the useless Bennet) and we still have nothing resembling a reliable short yardage runner since we dumped Kuhn off of the roster, let alone an actual power back. And we balance this mediocrity by constantly drafting DBs who end up washing out for the most part in a couple of years and STILL not having anything resembling a strong pass rush or passable LB corps. Rogers is, from a skills standpoint, one of the best to ever play the game. I still like Favre more (was more entertaining and relatable), but Rogers is the guy other godlike QBs heap praise on. Having said that, he is going to basically collect paychecks for the remainder of his career here which will basically be one and done Martyball for the duration. Our front office is terrible and our HC is someone who is where he is because he had #12 to fall back on to save his bacon. Realistically, if he was going to make another SB McDoofus should have been fired after the Seattle NFC Championship game debacle. I think the two have been bitter since then and we are only now seeing it bubble out into the open for the first time, because you can only bury that resentment for so long. Its also why Favre and Rogers reconciled, because they both went through the same slow dive into mediocrity fueled by bad management and coaching at this point in their careers in GB and they both understand each other a lot better as a result. So yeah, in a cut throat world where all he cares about are rings, Rogers should have walked away.
