Yeah, but would he really take less money? They can't really cut him and based on how he played at the end of last year I don't think he'd have a hard time finding another job that would pay 7.5. We'll see what happens next year and in the draft.

The Packers don't have to pay him less money by restructuring the contract. They could turn his 2014 base salary into a signing bonus and add another two or three years to the contract. The average money per year would be less, but the total amount would increase and he would receive the $7.5 million immediately.
