So we are driving home from church this AM chatting in the car. Country highway, sunny skies, clear straight road. I glance now and then at the missus as we talk. She goes DEER so I, being a good husband, hear DEAR and turn to look at her. She starts pointing forward so I turn to see what she is gesturing at. About 50 yards ahead is a brown target on the road. Fortunately the car was able stop before we got grilled venison. She then starts giving me crap about not watching where I was going. Didn't give an inch when I said I heard dear not deer. If she wanted me to stop, she should have said stop. Can't win. In hindsight, I did not see it when she did as it came out of a plowed field (brown on brown) and I was doing a mirror / speedometer check at that time. She would have seen it when it was in the grass covered ditch.

i won't ever have to worry about that, my wife can't see deer to save her life and she has lots of other names for me anyway. None of which sound anything like dear/deer
