It appears maybe the Vikings made a good decision by not pushing to keep him.

It appears that Sidney Rice‘s injury concerns are more serious than initially thought.

Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Rice is fighting through a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Rice is attempting to avoid surgery, which would likely end his 2011 season before it started.

Rice was inactive for a second straight game on Sunday after being listed as doubtful all week on Seattle’s official injury report.

This is not how the Seahawks envisioned the beginning of their partnership with Rice, who signed a five-year, $41 million deal with the team in August.

Rice missed most of his final season with the Vikings while recovering from offseason hip surgery. His best season came in 2009, when he had 1,312 yards receiving and eight touchdowns as a favorite target of Brett Favre.
