Guys, do you realize that aside from the penalties, Carroll really wasn't that awful? Already at this stage, he's a good nickle and a servicable 2. Remember how many awful penalties Sharper committed in his first couple of years? Look what he did in his last 3 years as a Packer. Just give Carroll some time. What 2nd year corner was playing like a top-notch starter last year and didn't commit a lot of dumb penalties? None. Watch a Falcons or Texans game. DeAngelo Hall and Dunta Robinson make the same mistakes. It just takes longer for DBs to develop.
Another point is that he might be a little short to cover some slot WRs and #1s, but with his speed shouldn't have a problem covering most #2s. With the opportunity to learn now instead of the "sink or swim" test they gave him the last 2 years, I think Carroll will be fine.
