With Brett Favre officially returning to the Packers,
they have tentatively targeted Randy Moss, Drew
Bennett, Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee as players
they may try to land to help Favre on the offensive
side of the ball.

Look for Ted Thompson and the Packers to use this
draft to upgrade the offensive side of the ball. The
wide receiver position, tight end and running back
position all will be upgraded according to my source.

Randy Moss will be moved from Oakland according to my
source, and the Packers seem like the likely
detonation, but at what cost? Oakland would like a 2nd
round pick, but with all of Moss' baggage Ted Thompson
may push for a 3rd rounder and a player (Robert
Ferguson or Ruvell Martin). Moss has told friends
close to him that he would relish the opportunity to
play for the Packers and he would do things that no
other wide receiver has done in the NFL with #4 (Brett
Favre) throwing him the ball. I have also been told
that Donald Driver is "cool with the move" if Moss is
brought in.

The Packers would like to re-sign Ahman Green to a one
or 2 year deal but the running back may be looking to
get a big payday and teams that may have interest
include the Jets, Giants, Raiders and Bills.

Jeff Garcia was also waiting to see if Brett Favre
decided to retire because the Packers were going to be
one of his suitors if he (Favre) did. But since Favre
came back, look for the Texans, Buccaneers, Chiefs
and Minnesota to push HARD for him.

Good Tuesday all. I hope you have a good day and enjoy
the rumors from the sideline.

Look for the Packers to address Nick Barnett and Al
Harris' contract situations this off season. The
Packers coaching staff and front office really Barnett
and think he is just "scratching the surface" and want
to lock him up long term.

If the Packers do trade for Randy Moss some names
Packer fans may want to keep an eye on during the
draft are Marshawn Lynch, Quentin Moses, Reggie Nelson
and Jarvis Moss.

I was told that the Packers had a long discussion
during a personnel meeting (Ted Thompson with his
scouts and coaches) about Randy Moss and whether or
not he could fit in Green Bay and be the type of
player coach Mike McCarthy envisions (a difference
maker). Well, I was told that the answer was a
resounding yes and the Packers will make a run at
obtaining the talented yet troubled Wide Receiver, as
long as the price tag is right.

Look for the Packers to try and upgrade the Safety
position via the draft, BUT if a player like Ken
Hamlin is still on the market after a few weeks, then
there might be some interest.

Expect the Packers to be aggressive early in the free
agent period. Names like Eric Steinbach, Justin Smith,
Tim Rattay, Michael Turner, Drew Bennett and Cory
Redding have came up.

Look for the Packers to address the Tight End position
early in the draft, possibly targeting Zach Miller
(ASU) in round 2 or Joe Newton (Oregon St.) in round
4.

Lets go on the sidelines.

Look for the Packers and MLB Nick Barnett to get an
extension done later this off season. It will be later
for a couple of reasons, the biggest is they both want
to see what Lance Briggs gets so they can start from
there.

If the Packers do deal for Randy Moss both parties
will want to re-work his current contract, possibly
extend it and make it more friendly for both parties.

If the Packers DONT deal for Moss, look for a RB
(Lynch) in round 1 and a WR (Dwayne Bowe or Sidney
Rice) in round 2. Another player they like is Tennessee
WR Robert Meachem. If they trade down a few spots,
look for him to be the pick and the RB position to be
the pick in rounds 2 or 3 (Dwayne Wright).

A player the Packers have targeted this off season is
Justin Griffin (FB, Atlanta). They think he can be a
player that can have an impact right away and already
knows the zone blocking scheme they run since the
Falcons run it as well.

Here is whats going on the sidelines;

The Packers are considering offering a 3rd round pick
and Bubba Franks to the Raiders for Randy Moss. But
Raiders owner Al Davis wants to meet with Moss to see
if anything can be done to work out the disgruntled WR
issues with the team.

Justin Smith's name keeps coming up when I speak to my
Packers sources). What would this mean for Cullen
Jenkins (who is asking for a deal around $9 million)?

I was told the Packers don't have any interest in
Jeremy Stephens and are lukewarm on Daniel Graham.
Itula Mili is a name that the Packers have some
interest in though, since they can draft a TE and Mili
could start until the rookie is ready.

Mike Doss will be a free agent after he voids the 5th
year of his contract. The Packers, Browns, Bengals,
Dolphins, Raiders and Chiefs may have interest.

I heard the Vikings may offer the #7 overall pick and
a couple players for Minnesota native (and former ball
boy) Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals are not actively
shopping him, but they may be willing to listen.

The Packers MAY look at Donte Stallworth, but that may
be just a courtesy. He has ties to Mike McCarthy (when
he was OC in New Orleans) but would look to want big
money, something the Packers don't think he is worth
(at this time). Another name to watch is 49ers TE Eric
Johnson.

The Packers will talk to Ahman Green's agent in the
next few weeks to see what he is asking to return foe
a couple years.

Warren Sapp has called Randy Moss to see if he can
help change his mind about a trade and mend the WR's
fractured relationship with the Raiders.

If Trent Green doesn't restructure his deal, he could
be cut form the Chiefs, who may be looking to go after
Jeff Garcia or Byron Leftwhich.

Dom Capers and **** LeBeau MAY be in line to join
Marty Schottenhiemer in San Diego as DC/Asst. HC

The Chargers will release or trade Donnie Edwards this
off season. Teams that might be interested are the
Packers, Raiders, Cowboys, Dolphins, Patriots,
Houston, the 49ers and the Panthers.

The Vikings will move Fred Smoot this off season I was
told, and there are a number of teams "interested".

If Brady Quinn slips to the Vikings at #7, look for
them to take him even with last years 2nd round pick
Tavaris Jackson showing some ability

The Packers will in fact try to make a big time run at Ravens LB/DE Adalius Thomas to be a DE/LB IF the Ravens do not tag him which is still a possibility.

The Packers have indeed talked to the Broncos about a deal that would send Tatum Bell and a pick to the Packers for KGB and a pick. I got the feeling that KGB will be moved this off season so this may be the first of many KGB to (fill in the blank) rumors. (That was a GREAT SCOOP Patty!!!)

The Packers have interest in Dante Stallworth, but look for the Titans and 49ers (who I have been told view him as their top priority) to overpay for him.

New free agent La Var Arrington may be calling the Packers this time around. He was EXTREEMLEY close to signing with the Packers last season, and may have to play at a bargain price (with whom ever he signs with). Also, the Poston's have a solid working relationship with Ted Thompson.

The Packers seem to have cooled off a little on the Randy Moss deal for a couple of reasons. (1.) Al Davis is trying to mend the rift between him and the team (2.) Al Davis wants equal value (as of today) from any team wanting Moss (which means a 2nd or a 1st) and (3.) The Packers are starting to think a WR in this draft could have just as much as an impact THIS SEASON and down the road for a cheaper price.

The Packers want to re-sign Ahman Green to a cheaper (non-starter) price, but with the free agent RB market being as it is, teams like the Giants, Jets, Ravens, Oakland, Denver and the Texans seem to have ALOT of interest.

Justin Griffith, the Falcons free agent FB, is amongst the Packers top FA targets this off season.

Some people I talked to think the Packers will let
Ahman Green walk because they, the people I talked to, feel he is done and will not be the type of player he
once was. If the Packers were to re-sign him, it would
be for a 1 or 2 year deal.

There are a few teams that seem to be interested in
the Packers DE "KGB" including the Buccaneers,
Raiders, Cardinals, Browns, Broncos, Texans, Redskins
and Jags.

Packers fans, just remember the name John Beck (QB,
BYU) during the draft days).

Deon Grant may be on the Packers short list, but they
will not get into a bidding war over him.

Sidney Rice's name is moving up draft boards, possibly
as high as #16 to the Packers.

I have been told the Packers and Nick Barnett's people
are getting a little closer to a deal, locking the MLB
up for 5-6 years, I couldn't get my hands on any
fiscal details.

Look for the Packers to try and make a push for Daniel
Graham. At first they were not to sure on whether or
not to make a run at him, but it seems they have
decided to do so since the Pats franchised Asante
Samuel.

It seems the Packers have an eye on a BIG OL that has
ties to Thompson...sorry I cannot say the name
today...I will bring it out later in the week.

I was told as of today the top 4 WR's on the Packers
board are (in no particular order) Ginn, Jarrett, Rice
and Bowe.

Three RB's to keep your eye on if your a Packers fan
are Dwayne Wright, Brian Leonard and Tony Hunt.

Look for the Packers to inquire about Deon Grant, but
they won't get into a betiding war with other teams
over him.

The Packers are mulling whether or not to make a ruin
at Cato June.

On the Sidelines

Written by Joe Arrigo - PackerChatters Staff

The Packers talked to Cullen Jenkins agent last night and are meeting today. They both are optimistic a deal can or will get done, but if not the Packers will put a tender on Jenkins (I was told a 1st round tender). Either way, I was told that the Packers will still go hard after Adalius Thomas, who they consider the top free agent on the market.

Speaking of Thomas, he will NOT be named the Ravens "Franchise player". They believe they can resign him while he is on the market, not to mention they would be over the cap if the did tender him. The 49ers and Packers are the front runners tom land him, but the Raiders, Jets, Patriots and Browns also have an interest in him.

Packers GM Ted Thompson caught flack for trading down in round 2 when Chad Jackson (the former WR from Florida) was available, and drafting Greg Jennings. But Thompson was not sold on Jackson's health or ability to stay healthy. Well that instinct proved right as Jackson was hampered by nagging injuries all year and now it comes out he tore his ACL in the AFC title game.

Packers FB William Henderson wants to return, but the ball is in the Packers court and they are deciding on whether or not they want him back. I was told they will give him word in the upcoming weeks.

Reports surfaced yesterday linking Houston and Denver to Packers RB Ahman Green, but other teams, most notably the Jets, Giants, Browns, Lions and Vikings also have interest. Green, who needs just 45 yards to break Jim Taylor's Packers all time rushing mark, wants to resign with the Packers, who are open to a bringing him back, at the right price.

The Bears have MAJOR issues going on. Lance Briggs apparently will ask for a trade because he doesn't feel he will get paid the way his play says he should. Also, the Lovie Smith extension talks are dead and if he was to become a free agent coach at the end of the season, he would be one of 4 Head coaches that could choose where he wants to go (the others being Marty Schottenhiemer, Bill Parcells and Bill Cower).

The Raven are working ******* restructuring Jamaal Lewis contract. Neither party wants the other to leave.

Here is what's going on the sidelines....

The Packers have talked to Clark Harris, Grer Olsen, Zach Miller and another "undisclosed" player yesterday, and came away impressed with all of them.

The Cullen Jenkins talk went well yesterday. Both sides agreed that a 3 or 4 year deal would be best for both parties, now it is "just" working on the money. They will meet again today to see if anything can get done.

I was told Adalius Thomas wants a $12 million dollar signing bonus, something that the Packers, 49ers and Browns can do. Look for him to be signed quickly by one of those 3 teams.

The Packers may take a look at Ryan Sims (the former Chief 1st round pick that has been a bust so far). He has been hurt and could be had for a cheap price (for a season).

Thomas Jones will be traded this off season and the Jets, Giants, Raiders and Browns all have intrest.

Dontè Stallworth wants a 6 year $31 million dollar deal (or some where in that range) with at least a $10 million dollar signing bonus. The Eagles will let him walk for that price..but the 49ers look to be willing to pay that.

Napoleon Harris, Fred Smoot, Brad Johnson and Darren Sharper could all be cut or not resigned to the Vikings in a few days. Smoot could also be traded.

Cato June could be the Ravens replacement for Adalius Thomas.

Enjoy the weekend and i'll see you Monday!!

I caught that detonation too.
Let's hope if he lands in Green Bay he explodes in a positive way, like for 1000 yards and 20 TD's.

That was almost as funny as going after Tim Rattay.

I'm not a big Randy Moss fan, but I can't say with a straight face that a passing attack with Moss, Driver, and Jennings in the slot wouldn't be awesome.

Ah, Vikes I hate it when we live up to your stereotypes. :beersign:
The one QB that Moss needs could be Brett cause I have a hard time seeing him get in Favre's face. From the time he'd step foot here he'd know who's town it is so I can see this possibily working
Had to add DD will always be the #1 man though

I'd find it really hard to root for Moss, but if he got off the plane with a pair of rubber gloves, a bottle of Mr. Clean, and a bucket of water and headed straight to that goal post he desicrated; I might be able to find it within myself to accept him. Blowing by Darlene Sharpier for a few TD's wouldn't hurt either.

Can you imagine Viking fans watching a 70 yard touchdown from Favre to Moss?

Yeah, it's hard to think about rooting for Moss. But if we can get him and pick up a TE, that's two more targets for Favre. Moss can definitely make a difference. I just hope it can be a positive one.

Arrigo is full of himself and his imagination....firstly, how can u target people (McGahee & Porter) when they are not available....The supposed expert with his source has done this for the last two years, by making obvious predictions that have been discussed by local media to death in green bay, then throwing in some stuff that is impossible. The boy just needs to set down his Madden game and deal with reality. This is the reason why I never check out Packer Chatters anymore and started to read the threads here. I don't agree with everyone, but atleast they don't start quoting imaginary sources within the NFL and the Packer organization....I can respect an opinion, I don't like liers...My source told me that there will be 53 players on the packers active roster....anyone want to bet me wrong...lol

Better yet:

Favre passes to Moss..... intercepted by Sharper......sets up the field goal.....Longwell kicks a 50 yarder to win the game !

But alas, not to happen. Moss will not end up in GB.

You know I have been left scratching my head a lot with some of Arrigo's rumours, because I just don't think they are plausible. But I respect him for posting the stuff he does, and partly because some of the things he has posted have been true (IIRC he was the first to have posted the McCarthy will be a the HC news). But some of the stuff does sound next to impossible.

As for the Portis deal, rumour has it that Washington wants to shed his big contract, so that is where I think Arrigo is coming from when talking about the Packers targeting Portis. Although I must say, the Skins have never been one to count their pennies, so I'm not sure how concrete the rumour is.

It does provide for some good things to talk about especially in the offseason. It is already a bit slow during these times, so just some fodder if nothing else. Glad to have you here tano.

That would be great if Moss would be a Packer. Coupled with drafting Marshawn Lynch from Cal. that would give us one of the best offenses in the NFL. Favre, Green, Lynch, Moss, Driver, Jennings, Franks, Clifton, Tauscher, Spitz, Collegde, and Wells. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets go on the sidelines.

Look for the Packers and MLB Nick Barnett to get an

Nick Harper and Cato June both want to return the
World Champion Colts, but the champs need to
restructure some contracts in order for that to
happen. They are only about 2.75 million under the
cap.

If Brady Quinn slips in the draft look for the Texans
to snag him. Gary Kubiak likes him alot and thinks he
could be a player they can build around. What does
that mean for David Carr, well, your favorite team can
have him for a 3rd round pick this year, according to
my sources.

Miami, Denver, Minnesota, Chicago, and Tampa Bay all
will be in the Jeff Garcia sweepstakes this off
season. But don't be surprised if Garcia stays in
Philly, something is considering.

Chris Chambers future in Miami is in doubt. My source
tells me he is available for the right price. Some
teams are scared off by his propensity to drop passes
(he was 2nd in the NFL behind Terrell Owens).

Look for the Vikings to name Leslie Frazier their new
Defensive Coordinator.

It seems that Byron Leftwhich AND Kyle Boller could be
moved this off season. Leftwhich could be had for a
2nd rounder while it would take a 3rd for Boller.

Lovie Smith should have his extension done by the
draft. The Bears and Smith wanted to wait until after
the playoffs to finish it.

Rex Grossman is ready to leave Chicago and has his eye
on a few teams that may need a QB after next season.
He is banking on having a big year so he can have a
even bigger payday.

If the Raiders trade Randy Moss, look for them to
draft a WR in round 2 if the player they really like
(Dwayne Bowe or Sidney Rice) is there.

The Raiders also are looking at Michael Turner (San
Diego) as their upgrade at the RB position.
