The Packers defense gave up an average of 35 points per game in those four NFCCG losses. It's awfully tough winning in the regular season allowing that many points but close to impossible to do it in the playoffs. During the 2014 NFCCG at Seattle the Packers got the ball twice while leading 19-7 with under seven minutes to go but McCarthy decided to run the ball on five of those six plays. Hardly Rodgers fault they weren't able to kill the clock in those situations. Carr definintely needs to by surrounded by an elite defense to win a Super Bowl. The Raiders unit struggled, finishing 26th in points allowed last season though. Carr is a significant upgrade over Dilfer. He won't be able to carry a team to a Super Bowl either though. You fail to understand that the Packers aren't standing pat while waiting on Rodgers to inform them about their decision. I'm absolutely convinced that they have talked to several teams about possible compensation for him if they want to trade him this offseason. If you need some evidence for that happening just take a look at the Broncos trading for Wilson last year. It's pretty obvious they preferred to acquire Rodgers but once the Packers announced they signed their quarterback to an extension it took them only hours to finalize a deal for Wilson. Do you honestly believe they didn't talk to the Seahawks before the Packers made it clear Rodgers wasn't available? No, they actually had a deal already in place if Rodgers stayed in Green Bay. That's a reasonable take on why the Jets might prefer to sign Carr. Rodgers having already made his decision wouldn't change a single thing about it though.
