Injury saved the Jets a 1st Rd pick, but also gave them no return on their investment and losing a 2nd Rd pick. Anyway, happy 4th year anniversary to a pick that was highly scrutinized, but has turned out pretty well in the long run.

For all those that have spent the last 4 years complaining about the Love pick and naming all the guys that could have been drafted instead. Let's look at all the guys (picks 1-25) that other teams took, INSTEAD of Jordan Love.

Sounds more like a fan base wanting to second guess the trade. Kind of like a bride getting cold feet after the first wedding was canceled due to bad weather.
I think that's part of it, but I can understand their point of view. A year ago, they had good reason to believe that this trade would put them in the postseason and even make them a possibly legitimate Lombardi contender. They watched as the team recontructed their entire roster to suit Rodgers, blowing up their salary cap to sign "B" free agents because they were Aaron's buddies, gave away valuable draft picks... and they got absolutely nothing for it. Except worse.

Now, this year, they're a weaker team than they were last year, with QB who will turn 41 this season and is coming off a major injury - the kind of injury that many players (espcially older ones) never fully recover from. The Rodgers who (a year ago) was coming off some of the best seasons of his career, was fully in shape, totally bought into the program, and fired up about getting the band back together again for one more tour is older, rusty from an entire year off, and may have lingering injury concerns. Plus, they've had a whole year to absorb the reality of what a mercurial prima dona he is.

Whether they blame him or not, they have to understand that this season doesn't appear anywhere near as promising as last season did at this time. So I'm not surprised if they're less excited about the whole Rodgers thing. And this year they've got a really good point that if he doesn't have an exceptional year, there may be no good reason to keep going with him.

One thing's fer shur - 15 years from now, when Gutekunst's heir decides it's time to trade Love, he probably shouldn't even bother dialing the Jets. They see a Green Bay area code come up on the caller ID, they're just going to block it.

Certainly Rodgers has done some weird stuff - from ayahuasca to vaccine denier. The funny part is that with Rodgers, there's no need to pile on with this made-up stuff.

I'm not making excuses for him. Entertaining a VP run is hypocritical after saying the entire Jets org needs to be focused on football. As I said, Rodgers comes up with enough weird stuff on his own. No need to embellish.
That’s actually a very biblical command also. We shouldn’t witness against someone we’ve never even spent any quality time with. We say all sorts of stuff (I do) that we regret later. Even if this stuff was true, he may have retracted that afterwards once he learned more facts. The Media loves to sling mud at candidates to the point of manufacturing hatred. For me the Media is far more appalling than any conspiracy theory it’s downright hateful. I don’t watch any of the major networks anymore they just sling mud it’s like Star Magazine was 35 years ago totally phony made up stuff. No candidate can be that bad all the time everyday. Except the ones reporting it. Heck I defend our President and I didn’t vote for the guy. I feel compassion for him. Be careful what yall project on others.. that stuff comes back at you threefold. I mean that

Modern politics has so much toxic hatred involved, it's really disturbing. Especially when you remember back before it was this way. I think some people would prefer to see a foreign invader conquer us than to see the other party's presidential candidate win. A lot of reasons involved in that, but you're right, the Media is probably the biggest factor.

Disagree with the biblical angle and just the notion that the Mass Media is like one large organization set out to cause hellfire and damnation.

This country is changing, will change, from majority white to a majority of minorities. A lot of people don't like that and it fuels a lot of hatred. But that change is coming, like it or not. I hope the democracy survives the change and we avoid white/christian apartheid. The democracy was built to survive just such a change. Bur separation of church and state is becoming murky, and that would destroy the country if we don't go back to the principles that started the country. We're not headed in the right direction. Ten commandments in public schools for starters. It won't stand, but just the fact that a state passed it is incredulous.

"...one nation, under God..." and also "In God We Trust" Creationism was taught in schools until about 75 years ago. 10 commandments hung in classrooms or schools until 50 years or so ago. No legal documents from the founders state separation of church and state. I could go on but this is a sports forum with "no politics" in the rules.

We both could go on. Agree to disagree and leave it at that as it is a sports forum.

Look what we do to our presidents now. Who would want to be one? I sure wouldn't.
Or ANY elected position local, state or federal for that matter. The notion of "public service" is a lost cause - and we get what what we deserve for being the unengaged society that we are.

Americans are, for the most part, unengaged and ungrateful. This year especially, it's gonna be expensive to be uninformed.

That's great as long as you want to get to the Conference Championship Game, but no further.
2 Debate Answers to that:

"It was a great CCG, a bigly one, we won. I won it better than anyone. Many tell me I am the greatest CCG guy that they have ever seen. I was so great that nobody understood how I did it. I just can't believe that the other team stole all those points, while the fans were sleeping and declared the winners."

"CCG? Man, we beat Medicaid that day!"
