You reminded me of a concept that Holmgren used concerning the media leaks. I remembered a story (I’m going from memory here so everyone be careful!) from the mid 1990’s leading up to the SB. Several media sources were diminishing the teams’ overall abilities after a couple of mid season losses. The player (that escapes my mind) being interviews said that Holmgren addressed those comments in a meeting. He told his players to kinda disguise themselves and go along with any media reports that were deemed negative. Basically told his players that were presented with media concerns about playing poorly to just act frustrated and discouraged etc.. lol. Mike said said something to the effect of “we already know who we are” more sentiment than exact verbiage. I always remembered this because it was actually a tremendous compliment to his players and staff. Here’s a HC who believed so much in his team that he’d toy with the poor media coverage whenever possible. Holmgren apparently loved it when the media was negative about his players and used that media to any strategic advantage possible. I sometimes wonder. Does this staff similarly play the media to their advantage? Saying a player is ahead of schedule even if they are not? Who knows what’s said behind closed doors it’s all smoke n mirrors
