We are rebuilding and during this year and the next couple we will not be very good. The nfl is set up that way you have your time to become the SB champ then you become the laughing stock.I will still root for the team I love the most but i also realize the fact we will not be competive for the next couple of years. Look at the bright side we will get the 1st pick in the draft, and hopefully some more future stars that will help our team when we become good again. We are going to be rebuilding through the draft the right way not just try to sign people to fill in for a year.

Yeah, they are rebuilding yet wanted Brett to come back and brought in the often injured Woodson?

With TT we will be rebuilding for the next 2 decades.

They are and everyone here should realize that. They dont want to come out and say it because then hell thats not much of a boost to the players. Basically them saying there not rebuilding is like Brett Favre saying this is the most talented team.

No team admits to rebuilding. Anyone can tell this is a brand new era. The only thing left from the old era is pretty much Brett Favre and Williams Henderson. Oh and Davis. I think Nick Saban was the only coach in ever to admit his team is rebuilding and winning doesn’t matter now. They did win 6 or7 in a row after that last year.

I'm not at all surprise that Green Bay lost. They have a lot of work to do. You can’t fall behind like that and let your opponent control the game all day long. The 1st half time of possession was horrible and that’s not good for a team that wants to come out and establish the run.

To rebuild soleley through the draft while plugging in low level free agents will take a minimum of 10 years and thats assuming you can keep the good players that become free agents during that time frame.
I f no effort is made to keep the core players as their contracts come up we are probably talking 20 plus years.
I don't believe you can grab the brass ring without good drafting coupled with signing high quality high cost free agents.

Tell the Patriots that it takes 10 years to rebuild through the draft while plugging in low level free agents.

Tell the Seahawks. Tell the Bears. I could continue.

It's amazing how much everyone is overracting.

Well then continue...

How long did it take the Patriots?

How about the Seahawks......how long between their championships..

How about the bears....seems like they been rebuilding since 1986..

Continue on.......

it doesn't necessarily take that long...look at Cinncy...u could say they've been rebuilding since the early 90s, but we all know the real effort to rebuild started when Marvin Lewis arrived...and it only took 2 years or so. Carolina went 1-15 (or seomthing like that) to the SB in 2 years. Get the right mgmt/coach, and you can rebuild quickly

depack, the patriots were in the superbowl in 1996 against us...

they went to the playoffs in 1997. and 1998. subpar season in 99 fired Carroll (sherman) hired Belichek (MM) belicheck went 5-11 his first season.

so it took one bad season with an old coach, then one bad season with the new coach and then they proceeded to win 3 superbowls in 4 years.

yeah this is a really really bad system to mold your franchise after. what is TT thinking. IT MIGHT TAKE 2-3 WHOLE YEARS BEFORE WE ARE ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE!!! NOOOOO

Mavin Lewis and Lovie Smith being hired were the final pieces of the rebuilding puzzle. Those teams had been drafting in the top ten for several years and, thus, had improved their talent. We've been drafting in the bottom ten for the last 10 years. Hard to replenish talent that way.

How long did it take? Because at the rate we are going, it's gonna take about the same amount of time.

You got that crap right, the way we are going we wont be ever a superbowl team again...what kills me is we had lots of money the start of the season to get some really good players and we didnt get any whats up wiff dat????????????????????

So if there is rebuilding going on, where is the improvement?

Are the better players coming in?
Is Popinga better than Diggs?
Is Manuel better than Roman?
Can Pickett stop the run like Jackson?
Are the Packers better off with the return of Jags and Schottenhiemer?
Good thing Bates was fired, right?
Up and down the roster and coaching staff with only a few exceptions the new guys aren't as good as the guys they are replacing.

Thank you TOP for pointing out the obvious. In the case of the Bears in particular, it was never really a lack of talent....especially on defense. It was the lack of a QB, which they may have found....and horriffic ownership/management decisions..particularly where the HC was concerned.

After Week 1 it's to early to tell. After the year we'll be able to make an assessment and no it's not an excuse. That's how it is. Would you of expected Shawn Merriman to make the Pro Bowl after the first few weeks last season? I doubt it.

Right now if I had to guess.

Poppinga is better for the long term than Diggs but currently Diggs is the better player.

Roman is better than Manuel from what I've seen so far. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yes Pickett can and will stop the run like Jackson. This guy had a lot of tackles last year on a bad defense and he'll do it again this year.

Definately not Schottenheimer. Maybe Jags. It's more so McCarthy's O than Jags though. Jags is just working with the line it seems like.

Bates wasn't fired. He was asked by McCarthy to return as the coordinator and he turned it down, probably because he thought he was going to be Head Coach. It's a real shame to. Hopefully he gets a job somewhere.

As of now I see no improvement but there is 15 more games. We'll see how it goes. Though if New Orleans blows them out then something is wrong.
