The above gives greater cause to go after RB, iDT, WR in this draft
??
Not sure what you are stating/asking here.
Given the Packers current WR room, I think not paying Doubs what the Patriots paid him, was a smart move by Gute. Thus, I view it as a plus (end result is good for the Packers).
I have a hard time envisioning Sky helping out the passing game. He has not been in loaded WR rooms and averages less than 1 catch per game in his career. Now on the other hand I am cautiously optimistic that Golden and Wicks are ready to step it up. It seems to me that Reed needs to be schemed open. IMO that is why he seems to disappear at times. IMO the key to the GB WR room is Watson and his availability, which has been debated ad nauseam in the other thread. No question in my mind that Golden needs to get his chance in Year 2 and Doubs was, in at least part, preventing that. Reed is established in the Slot but talented enough to play Z. That gives GB lots of flexibility because they also have Wicks. Obviously Watson is going to see the field regularly. Plus there’s a potential opportunity to get Skyye involved.
Too much position overlap with Doubs or he’s holding back other risers. GB was really almost in a way forced to decision Doubs or decision 3 other players simultaneously. A Doubs deal and GB instantly becomes Cap heavy at WR because I think we all agree that Watson will likely get an offer very soon. So a big Doubs contract and we would’ve just effectively announced Reed and Wicks are being put out to pasture before their final season starts. Not very wise.
Imo, It’s became a “financial game of pickle” with Doubs and looking for the least harmful way out. Especially considering letting Doubs go netted us a nice RD4 selection and keeps our Cap$ wide open. It was highly prudent to NOT be making grand financial declarations that impacted multiple players at once and doing it so prematurely.
But stating that Doubs is a negative in the loss category, doesn't mean someone feels we ought to have spent the money...those things do not have to coexist.
I'm trying to see a late return by Parsons as an advantage, hopefully. A late season boost to the defense, instead of him being worn down and/or injured going into the playoffs. If we make the playoffs. If we don't, that would be one more year of decreasing performance under MLF.
It will be a nip and tuck battle to win a football game each week. We have to take them one at a time and consider every opponent dangerous. As far as this rebuild business. Theres 1 thing I’m convinced of.. IF GB sticks this draft like they did in years like 2023? Nobody in the NFL will be calling us “rebuilding” this season.
“Fully built”? Maybe
I wouldn’t be least bit surprised to see The Packers start 3-2 or 3-3 or something like that and then start getting healthy and pouncing some teams along the way. Much will be determined by how quickly our DC can transition. We’ve got multiple D coaches with dynamic levels of experience. Head Coach, DC Coordinator experience, I think just between the THREE DC, Pass Coordinator, Linebackers/assist head coach.
I counted 43 years of NFL position, Coordinator and Head Coach experience.
Not with slouch defenses either. We’ve essentially got the previous staff from
Falcons, Vikings, Panthers, Patriots, Eagles, Bills.
By Weeks 3 or 4 fans will definitely be able to declare Rebuild or No Rebuild.I wouldn't say we're in a "rebuild" by any means, but I do think (I've said this before) that while the team wouldn't admit as much....it kind of feels like they are already looking on to 2027 for a bigger "push"
I'd guess that unless they do something in the draft that works out; at least Sky will have a chance against Melton for some playing time. I think he did well in college. Maybe he just needs to hang on to the ball. He must know that he has to start out well.I have a hard time envisioning Sky helping out the passing game. I hope so. But haven't given up this year anyway.I wouldn't say we're in a "rebuild" by any means, but I do think (I've said this before) that while the team wouldn't admit as much....it kind of feels like they are already looking on to 2027 for a bigger "push"
I don't think anybody is saying we are in a rebuild. We aren't getting rid of all assets to look out into the future. But there is no doubt we have dropped some past starters in order, imho, to improve our team with some fresh blood and open up some money. And it just seems like 27 is the year for it really to come together. Assuming The Gute does a slam bang job with our draft picks. And if we can stay in it until Parsons comes back; we can do some damage this year. We've gone from looking like Super Bowl champs the first two games last year, and #1 on a lot of people's power rankings to talking about a rebuild now. Pretty sad. Although I don't think we're rebuilding. Spinning our wheels maybe.

I think Skyy is a total upgrade for the Packers on Special teams. He is a threat to take it to the house on punts or kickoffs. For the past several years it seemed like returns were an afterthought for the Packers and the guys they had returning balls reflected that.I'd guess that unless they do something in the draft that works out; at least Sky will have a chance against Melton for some playing time. Yeah EG 2026-2027 is a long way from a rebuild. That's not the same as saying the team has a strong shot at a SB. That's a work in progress and Gluten is plugging the holes. Will that be enough for 2026-2027? We'll find out over the next few months, and as thre season progresses. No one was predicting Seattle would win the SB a year ago.Rodell must be back. This is the type of statement that he would make, about the sky falling because the Packers didn't win the SB. Calling it a rebuild is preposterous.
Every team is trying to build towards winning it all. A rebuild is like gutting your house down to the studs. We are merely changing out a few windows and repainting the walls. It's fair to question whether that is enough to make the Packers' house any better, but confusing it with a rebuild....??
I've always thought that Amish Paradise was Weird Al's best song.Just a reminder to all, the World Renowned Amish Draft is being held again this year, for the 55th time! Don't miss out on this special event!
