we'll all be pleasently surprised. Defensively, we will look better mechanically, Raynoch Thompson was a great addition, everyone expects huge things out of Donnell Washington (the "wouldve been a first round pick in '05" thing comes up quite a bit)...hopefully we do a lot more tackling drills in camp, wouldnt hurt. Maybe Kampman's improvement will continue (but we need someone other than KGB to reach 5 sacks this time). Safety depth...Freeman and Collins start? Earl Little, Underwood, some depth. Some of the late round rookies are promising. Poppinga brings speed. Montgomery brings a heck of a frame, if only he can add some weight. Kurt Campbell is big and fast. Mike Hawkins is interesting, only 20, only a year in college, I think its possible he'll reward us with our believing in him, appearently a lot of personal problems...the raw product is there, its our coaches' jobs to turn them into solid nfl players, and that is possible Most importantly the defense will look like they know what they're doing. I'm confident Bates will blitz while also making sure we're solid against the pass, something Slowik didn't do. Too many times our CB's were hung out to dry and did the best they could. I expect a big year out of Ahmad Caroll, it's tough for a rookie CB, he was thrown into the fire early, struggled, you can call me ahmad caroll's biggest fan at this point. Wahle and Rivera will be big losses but O'Dwyer and Klemm will replace adequately. Look for Sherman to implement more run packages (similar to Kevin Barry's u-71 package)...Will Whittiker was a supreme run blocker in college, could start out as an extra blocker in run situations. I think Favre will be out to prove some things this year after how we lost last year.
