I didn't get to see the entire game but was Quay that bad?

Has he ever been that good??

One of my friends was explaining to me how every time he watches Quay Walker, he makes a bad play. Not even a second later Quay gave up the TD catch in the back of the endzone. Now, I'll say that we asked a LB to cover a TE in the endzone so that's no small task, but Quay didn't do much else in the game to earn a big contract.

I thought he was playing better lately but we don't get many games down here and its hard to tell just watching highlights. I would never categorize Quay as a potential MENSA candidate. ;)

IMO, Quay played well in the first two games but (like others) has had a bad two or three game stretch since.

No matter how Quay finishes the year, even if he wins DPOY, I would not give him a second contract in GB unless he signed for the veteran minimum in order to be the backup.

Has Hobbs shown us anything this year yet?

I haven't been able to All22 like normal yet, offhand his grading surprised me. Hobbs was lower than I imagined but I figured in 60s ... so not crazy. One of the best WR groups they faced for sure.

Usual disclaimers about PFF aside, 60 is supposed to be average. I don't know how confident they are in their numbers, but personally, I'd consider 55-65 to "roughly the same grade" particularly for just a single game.

Yes, that he is not that good and the numbers show it. I didn't understand that signing from the start, but was willing to ride it out. I've made my decision. He's not good. This was another Raider that I'm sure ole Richie B. wanted.

- 90.4,
His best game so far. He is getting more and more comfortable with the offense. I'm interested to see him and Watson on the field together.
Josh Jacobs - 83.6,
As Jacobs said earlier this season, it takes a bit to get the running game going. They now have it going and I expect it to keep going. The line is playing better and opening better holes for him.
Zach Tom - 75.5 before anyone gives me guff, I had to stress Tom had a couple TERRIBLE reps, but Lord he was rock solid in essentially all others.
Essential to the run game.
Jordan Love - 73.0
Still throws some of the worst INTs I've ever seen a pro throw. He's playing really well though, especially on 3rd down.
Romeo Doubs - 72.1
Quietly our best WR. Not sure why he is always the first to be talked about being traded.
Worst Offense
John Fitzpatrick
- 51.7
Malik Heath - 55.4 (dude had a 75 run blocking grade though...freaking stud like always there)
Aaron Banks - 55.6
This guy needs to play better. The Packers are generally very picky about their free agents. Banks and Hobbs were head scratchers to me.
Luke Musgrave - 57.4
Emanuel Wilson - 57.6

Best Defense
Warren Brinson
- 84.8
This guy needs more time on the field.
Micah Parsons - 78.4
There's a lot of people complaining about Parsons. He does a lot beyond just sacking the QB. I'd like to see those sack numbers climb too, but give it time. He's putting in work.
Evan Williams - 76.4
Edgerrin Cooper - 73.6
Colby Wooden - 73.2

Worst Defense
Kingsley Enagbare
- 47.7
Karl Brooks - 50.6
Keisean Nixon - 55.7
Quay Walker - 58.0
Nate Hobbs - 58.1
Enagbare is a spot player. Not so worried about him. Brooks, Nixon, Walker and Hobbs just need to be better. They step it up a bit an this defense climbs into the elite status.

Josh Jacobs kinda worked out though. :D

I wasn't a fan of either of the big FA contracts that Gutekunst did this off-season (Parsons aside). Banks wasn't a beast in SF but got paid like one. We'll see what he really is once healthy, but maybe this is what he is...an injury.

For sure Hobbs has an injury history. I got challenged on this forum that Hobbs was a "healthier" version of Jaire Alexander. Well so far he has also been an injured player, who's best highlight was hitting his own teammates too hard in training camp.

I'm a big Gutekunst fan, but the early take-away is that we wasted a lot of money on non-upgrades. Hopefully both Hobbs and Banks get healthy and earn their money.

The only saving grace is we got both to structures that honestly after next year we could cut tail and count losses...which is rare in bigger FA acquisitions....I mean "technically" both overall would be small savings even if we wanted to release after this year...but more likely would be to see second year in system...I actually have liked Hobbs more than disliked, but that doesn't mean he hasn't still be inadaquate at times for sure.

Good points. I want Hobbs to be a tone-setter in the secondary, like how Richard Sherman played with fire in his eyes. He was billed by some as a healthier version of Jaire, but he certainly has not shown that level of CB play yet.

Jamarr Chase makes a lot of DB's in The NFL look bad... and Tee Higgins is on the other side of him. Nixon had a couple of penalties, so I'm thinking that effects his grade. I'm not worried yet, especially with Hobbs and Banks, as they are still coming back from injury. If they can stay healthy, let's see how they are playing in a month. Nixon has had a few really good games this season, not going to ding him on one game against Chase.

Oh yikes, if someone watched his film and saw a healthy Jaire as the player type I would recommend they go to an eye doctor...

Im gonna go out on limb and guess no one actually said that

If im wrong so be it but it would be best not to take articles written in crayon seriously

Edit: i just scrolled up. By "some" were you just referring to yourself? lol

Yeah from the size of the field you can do the math percentile %. Some positions average = 54% others is 61% etc.
Look at the player pool size vs where said player falls. If they are graded 70th of 140 players they’re roughly 50% tile. So then you cross it with their “grade 56.7” and that = the mean +-
Other positions it’s a little higher or lower. I think 53%-62% is pretty normal. Start getting into 65% and you’re a good starter. Clipping at 51% and you’re “emerging” or “needs minor refinement”

So this is simply my guess is that the field of players at that position group have a curve. In 2025 it might be 61% is average at DL. At CB it might’ve been 56% average. I have noticed different position groups have a curve that floats about 5% +- It’s a little tricky but I use the percentile grade based on number of player field at that position
13th/177 =top 7.3% or ~93rd percentile of the league. or 123rd/213= bottom 58% (100%-58%) =42nd% tile
