In Leroy and Tom’s latest videos. They talked about how our opponents are beginning to implement a formula that is our kryptonite. Love possibly doesn’t get flexibility or his Receiving group doesn’t have a specific plan for over-aggression (rushing 5+) earlier in games. He mentioned in his experience Favre used to counter it with a Slant or Bubble Screen or if The Safety played back Favre would just hit Sterling with a quick throw and that was a suggestion by Sharpe. He’d punish opponents with a YAC play but it was more about keeping Favre clean early in games. Then opponents would be forced to stop the Rushing 6 type stuff and they’d revert back to the Running game once they established that quick high probability passing game. Leroy and Tom noticed what I noticed. Teams are using a template of rushing extra guys early to get after Jordan. However we seem to not have any plan to change the play when it’s clear they are running that Casino blitz. The adjustments Favre made were so obvious that Butler would ask Favre what they were doing. Favre told Leroy they had meetings to change the play just before the snap on a certain signal or cue and burn the Defense or welcome that look that the Lions were giving us. It was like an antidote to inflict pain on the D until they had their hand forced to stop getting gashed by over aggression. Cat n Mouse if you will. This happened both in practice and live games and Butler said it was very effective in slowing the blitz earlier. Love n Co and Matt need to have a better plan than just waiting on a 15 yard pass to develop while it’s 6 on 5 rushing. throw away from the pocket and let them fight for several yards with a 1 on 1 matchup and take that small 3-5 yard play early and often and make Seattle respect it. Mix in the Run more as the Field position tilts. Quit running the middle for 0 yards in play #2 of the game. It reminds me of the Packers of the 80’s run run pass punt run run pass punt run run pass punt. Use a little ingenuity in the 1st quarter
