If you're on offense at your own 10-yard line and get called for a hold, it effectively turns what is typically a 10-yard penalty into a 5-yard one. Do it again and it's a 2.5-yard penalty. I dunno, call me crazy, but I'd do away with "half the distance" entirely. If you're within 5/10/15 yards of the goal line and get called for a 5/10/15 yard penalty...just put the ball on the goal line. It doesn't make sense to me that the closer you get to the goal line the less punishing a penalty effectively becomes...</blockquote>
