Whitehead went undrafted out of Auburn in 2015 and spent most of last season on the Niners practice squad before the Ravens signed him to their active roster in December. He wasn't active for the last two games of the season though.

Actually, he sounds like he's being scoped out as Hyde's 2017 replacement, having played nickel and safety. They like having a guy with nickel/safety position flexibility for that extra roster spot on the 53 and the game day roster. He runs 4.50 and might add value as a gunner.

After a year or two on practice squads trying to make a third, one would hope he learned his "yes sirs" and "no sirs", a prerequisite.

It's about as close to mandatory as you can get that the Packers add a safety or two on the PS, if not one on the 53 man roster.
