The Green Bay Packers have signed safety Nick Collins to a long-term contract extension through the 2013 season. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Friday.

"The Packers always try to be proactive in our discussions with our current players and we are pleased we were able to come to an agreement with Nick," said Thompson. "Nick has been an impact player for us, and we look forward to having him continue his career as a Packer."

Collins was selected to his second consecutive Pro Bowl in 2009, becoming the first Packers safety to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since LeRoy Butler (1996-98). His 13 interceptions since 2008 leads all safeties, while his 405 interception return yards tops all players over that time.

A second-round draft choice by the Packers in 2005, Collins has started all 77 games in which he has appeared over the past five seasons.
