Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy , and javon walker all have one thing in common, all will endure short tenures as green bay packers . . . The offseason that everyone will want to forget is this one, a one in which the pack will be known for having a boat load of cash, hiring the wrong coach, chasing brett favre into retirement and not satisfying an elite wr in javon walker therefore trading or releasing him to go to another team in which he will go to many probowls . . .

Ryan pickett(fence) is a decent run stopper but nothing that special, and the shoopster ask's why pickett over washington? Indeed big ol' teddy is getting up there in age, but his ability to stop the run is better than anyone else who has ever played defense in the nfl. With all that money the pack should have thrown it at top players to help bring one more superbowl to the pack and send favre off the right way. (Mount)Washington along with rocky (Saint)bernard would have given the pack a top interior d-line teamed with kampman and KGB on the outside would have given the packers the best d-line in the nfl . . .

Julian peterson, ty law, jamie sharper, adam archuleta, terrell owens, how come the pack did not pursue any of them? The shoopster ain't sayin' they should have signed them all, the shoopster is just wondering with all the money the pack have, why not pursue top players? Hmm, maybe thompson and jerry "slick" angelo are twins seperated at birth? . . .

The shoopster is very anxious to see what the pack do with the fifth pick . . . trade down or draft a bust? As we know, when the pack pick high, they don't pick good, need the shoopster eimd you of former high first rond busts such as, Tony Mandarich , Wayne Simmons, Jamal Reynolds, Brent Fullwood, and Ken Ruettgers. Ah memories . . . indeed . . .

None the less the packers must now look towards the future, they need a successful draft inoder to have any hope for the future . . . brett favre's day's are done, he will retire and sadly go out the way he came in . . .

The shoopster warn's thompson to stay away from a.j. hawk, he will be the next Broderick Thomas, instead go with mario williams aka the next reggie white or even muchael huff. The packers need to rebuild now, and building a defense through the draft is the way to go, offense can and should be aquired via free agency, the only exception of drafting offense is offensive lineman, and max jean-gilles should make a great round two pick for the packers. Round three the shoopster see's a player named a.j. nicholson who will fit in nicely with our beloved packers. As long as thompson followers the shoopster's lead and does as he say's, the pack will contending before you know it . . .

Yeah...Pickett is a hack....who happened to lead all DT with tackles last year. Not DTs on his team, but in the league. That is called stuffing the run.

Archuleta at $5 mil per year......oh yeah.

Peterson as $7.5 mil per year.......what a steal.

Hutchinson at $7 mil per year...exactly what do you p[ay your tackles?

And what exactly has Donnell Washington ever done to convince you he can play, let alone be a beast? We all want that, but he has thus far disappointed.

Um...Wayne Simmons was a very decent player and a crucial cog to the SB years. The last tough guy this defense had.

Ruettgers TC holdouts were a pain in the ***, but there is no denying the guy could play.

Love the 3rd person reference, though!

DTP, the shoopster was not talking about Donnell Washington , he was talking about ted washington, shame ya couldn't figure that one out. Like the shoopster said, the pack didn't need to sign all those players, but a couple would have been nice. Remember premire player's, cost premire dollar's . . .

Ted Washington has very little left in the tank, and based on last years performance (providing you consider tackling a critical component of run stuffing), Pickett outperformed him. Why the fascination with Ted, given his age and performance relative to Pickett last year?

Just because a player get more tackles doesn't mean he's a better run stuffer than someone who get's less tackles. Ted played for the bears in 2001 and made the probowl, yet didn't have many tackles. Washington's presence alone scares players to run at him, and when they do, he get's them. He changes the game.

That was 5 years ago...my guess is that Ted has lost some steam since his glory days with the Bears. Ted is a good player, no doubt. But all things considered, I go with the guy who has more upside/future in the league.

why are you talking in 3rd person? that's just silly :p

and Ted Washington wouldn't be a good pickup either, old fat and lazy, pickett will be much better.

All the FA's you want are either overpaid or teamdestroyers....

tell me are you really a bears or vikings fan trying to stir things up?

But is he worth the money he would demand? NO!

You can't just spend money on players that aren't worth it, then we would become like the vikings, and we wouldn't want that? Or maybe you would, since you're probably a vikings fan trying to stir things up here.

I agree, it gave me a good laugh too :D:D

Laughing is what other fans and the country will be doing when watching the pack play, seriously, the shoopster knows what he is talking about. The pack had a chance to get great again and blew it.

well the gakko knows that the packers will be able to win with another QB, lol how many teams have won the superbowl with a great QB playing on their team? Lol Johnson won a Superbowl.

and gakko knows that if you spend money like the vikings, thinking only short term, you will crash and go up in flames in a couple of years.

I would rather build a team that can be good for a long period, rather than building a team that go up in flames after 1 - 2 years.

sorry "The shoopster" but signing record setting offersheets(vikings) or signing above average OLBs to 10 mil a a year(seahawks) contracts would have gotten us broke real fast.

so far we got a up and coming safety, some olinemen resigned, some dlinemen resigned, and got a DT who led the NFL in dt tackles

spending a ridiculous amount of money IS one way of doing it, ill agree with that...

but is it the smarter way? Does it guarantee playoffs?

no.

I haven't seen the Steelers spend ridiculous amounts on money on players to build their team.

Well unlike the packers, the steelers can actually draft good players and have a good coaching staff . . . That's why . . .

so you say we can't draft good players?

Then we will never be a good team.

so you say we have a poor coaching staff?

Then we will never be a good team.

The FA wouldn't help us if this was the case, if what you are saying is true, we can just give up now.

Not yet Gak, not yet, a new front office and coaching staff could save the pack . . . Maybe they should give your's shooply a call . . .

you didnt like TTs first draft here?

A #1 pick in A-rod with our 24th?

Not a Nick collins fan?

T-Murph looked solid till he got hurt.

Underwood came on slower than hoped, ill give you that.

Poppinga was ok till he got hurt.

Coston might be our center of the future.

Hawkins is probably going to take Carrolls job, if a Free agent doesnt.

Mike Montgomery was one of the better stories in this draft. He is so good, and so young. you dont like him though?

craig bragg..disappeared, thats you, you got that one

kurt campbell got hurt in camp

william whitticker, a late 7th rounder, was a starter. How many late 7th rounders become starters?

----

but ok, whatever you say, the shoopster.
