People were saying here the same thing last year.

Well, last season only three Packers made the Pro Bowl roster with Rodgers and Matthews solely on reputation. The team didn't feature a first team All-Pro.

2012 - the Vikes took Harrison Smith right after GB selected Perry. The Seahawks got Bobby Wagner in the middle of the 2nd, and the Bucs got Lavonte David towards the end of the 2nd.
2013 - the Packers selected Datone Jones. Carolina took Kawann Short in the middle of the 2nd and New England took Jamie Collins a little later.

The Packers defense would most likely be significantly better with any of those players though. Therefore it's kind of fair to criticize Thompson for not selecting the best player available especially as it's his only way of acquiring talent.
