OK. I'm a Dolphins fan and at thephins.com we run a GM League every offseason. Basically something to pass the time. We do Trades, FA and the draft with a salary cap. We can also fire and hire HC, OC, DC, This year I am the Packers GM and I was hoping to get some feed back on some players and direction to go with the team.

-As far as untouchables go, I assume Aaron Rodgers. Is there anyone else you guys would consider off limits in a trade? Matthews? Nelson? Cobb?

-Should I keep the coaching staff?

-Biggest team needs. As an outsiders looking in I'm guessing OL, RB and LB. Am I right about those and are there any other big weaknesses?

-Any young guys who maybe haven't had any National media attention that are ready to or have already somewhat broken out.

-I am a fan of the 4-3 defense over the 3-4. How do you guys think the defensive personnel would adjust if I made that change.

-If there are any other nuggets of info you'd like to add, feel free. I'll take all the knowledge I can get my hands on. And if you want to check in on how/what I'm doing with the Pack, check it out here: http://www.thephins.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?111-2013-GM-League-Forum

All the while trying to extend the contracts of the leagues best QB and teams best defensive player.

Maybe S (Woodson isn't transitioning well) and WR (Driver and Jennings leaving) TE (If you get rid of Finley) back-up QB or K is also a consideration. MLB and DE might be an issue for 4-3, but OLB should be fine. You'll really have to look at what the players did in college and the differences between the front 7's to figure out the scheme change. Our needs really differ based on your preference for roster #s. We usually like to keep only 2 QB, 5 WR, and 1 FB. You may decide to change that.

Sounds like fun.
Untouchables: Only blue chippers on the Packers are Rodgers, Sitton and Matthews. There are several others a smart GM would likely never trade and that includes Cobb, Nelson, Raji and Hayward (R).
I don't think there's anything wrong with the coaching staff. The OL coach is suspect however. Many are calling for a change at DC and your idea to change to a 4-3 would make sense if you're going to do that but you are going to be a very busy GM since you will have to completely overhaul the D. Where does your best defensive player (Matthews) play in a 4-3? You'd be throwing out the best attributes of one of your few blue chip players.
Hard to figure team needs. Too many injuries still to heal to see where the roster will be. Assuming all are back healthy I'd say DT, OC, MLB and RB in that order.
Young guys that can have an impact this year that you've probably not heard of are TE Quarless, CB House, RB Harris, WR Boykin. Last year's injuries who could come back and have an impact are OLB Perry (R), OT Sherrod, OT Bulaga, DE Worthy (R)
It's your team Mr. GM but think long and hard about changing to the 4-3. When the Packer changed to the 3-4 they totally washed out their best pass rusher by trying to make him an OLB. And if you're going to go to a 4-3 you sure as heck do want to change your DC. Capers is a 3-4 guy.
It would be interesting to see how you guys grade this out. Is it even competitive? It would be interesting to see end of year rosters and so on. Keep us informed.
