In past years, You've seen the offense with a disparity between it's top talent and the players lower on the depth chart. DeShawn Wynn Brandon Jackson Ahman Green(was great during his prime don't get me wrong) Kregg Lumpkin Vernand Morency Noah Herron Ruvell Martin Brett Swain Shaun Bodford Jake Allen (to name a few) Now compare that too the current roster minus the stars James Starks Alex Green Randall Cobb Jordy Nelson James Jones note* filled with young proven talent and high draft picks Assuming the pack goes with 5wrs, and 3rbs 3tes Greg Jennings Donald Driver Jordy Nelson James Jones Randall Cobb Shaky Smithson***possible special teamer Ryan Grant James Starks Alex Green Jermichael Finley Andrew Quarless Tom Crabtree I would argue that is the Best 11 offensive weapons the packers have ever had at one time. In Past years the bottom few players would have been udfa's or lower tier free agents. Ted thompson has somehow gotten the packers into a position where the players lower on the depth chart are 2nd-3rd round picks with very high potential left in their careers. It would seem that a lot of the competition at camp would be for practice squad roles. (swain/nance/chastin/gurley/taylor/smithson a possibility to make the roster for special teams) While the lower talent on the packers has always been good, filled with strong role players, I feel as if the younger players on the team are filled with potential and long lived starting NFL careers instead of a couple stars and a mix of perennial backups. It's possible I am getting ahead of myself, but I feel very strong about the direction Ted Thompson's choices on offense are going this year and for the future.
