Your first sentence completely ignores a somewhat obvious historical context of a sad history of unnecessary deaths/brutality: had he been a 12 year old boy with a toy gun then he would have deserved being shot? A sleeping ambulance worker? A handcuffed individual being kneeled on for 8+ minutes? a 33-year old handcuffed imigrant sodomized by police with a bathroom plunger? A 22-year old street vendor reaching for his wallet? A 22-year old lying facedown at Fruitville station? Numerous mentally ill? Selling cigarettes illegally? Stopped on the side of the road trying to fix a brake light? Mysteriously coming down with a fatal coma while being transported in a prison van? Your first sentence also presupposed the idea that reaching into your car and disobeying the police is worth a death sentence. Many (myself and other developed nations included) would think that more training for police officers might be able to avoid some of these outcomes and allow a judge and jury to decide if someone needs to be killed, rather than a guy amped up on adrenaline. I would just point out that maybe, just maybe, you haven't had the lifetime experience of how some people are treated by police. That's why it's helpful to listen to others and their experiences, rather than just saying that your knowledge and history is the right one and anyone else is just wrong. As for the second sentence, congrats, not all police are bad. All people are calling for is better policing and reforms that don't hide an officer's history of misconduct from the public.
