to my knowledge, TT decides the roster, Sherman decides the starters. im sure there is a healthy line of communication between the two of them though.

Congratulations - that's what a GM does. They make personnel decisions based on their own observation and coach recommendations. So, Sherman did not cut him, Thompson did.
