Guys, do you seriously believe that TT made the mistake of the century passing on Chad Jackson? Have you looked at his stats? Watched a Florida game? Thought about the system he played in?

Chad Jackson had 900 yards, 9 TDs, and a 10.2 YPC average this season at Florida. 138 yards, 3 TDs, and an average over 10 YPC came in his first game of the season against mediocre non-conference opponent Wyoming. If you subtract that game from his season, Jackson has 762 yards, 6 TDs, AND A YPC AVERAGE OF UNDER 10! What???? This guy is the savior of the Packers and TT's biggest mistake? What are you smoking?

Look at Chad Jackson's stats against the 3 REAL defenses he played against this season. 50 yards, no TDs, and 6 yards a catch against Alabama. 29 yards, no TDs, and 6 yards a catch against LSU. 21 yards, no TDs, and 7 yards a catch against Georgia. Wow! He's the next ****ing Jerry Rice!

In addition, he plays in the pass oriented Urban Meyer offense. Now yes, this offense is centered around the short pass, but if Jackson is so great, he'd have either more receptions, more yards after the catch, or both.

Now I know that the MAC is no SEC, but Jennings had 3 straight 1000+ yard, 11+ TD seasons. Even playing in the MAC, I'm pretty sure 1200+ yards and 14 touchdowns translates to AT LEAST Chad Jackson's numbers in the SEC.

Now stop with all this "TT is destroying the Packers" ********, please. You don't know more than ANY NFL GM. None of us do.

Chad Jackson vs Jennings from GM JR Scouting LLC

Jackson is a junior who came out early for the 2006 NFL Draft, and because of the lack of game-changing receivers in this year’s draft, he definitely made the right decision. He is a good athlete, who is extremely smooth and fluid in his routes, and he consistently has shown quickness out of his cuts to get separation.

While he lacks top-end playing speed, he accelerates to full speed quickly, and once he gets to full speed, he has deceptive speed and can get separation deep down the field. He is a smart receiver who sets up his routes well, and he sells his fakes strong to turn defenders around. He has very good hands, does a good job catching the ball with his hands, and can twist and adjust to make tough catches on off-target passes. He is more slippery and elusive running after the catch than you'd expect, and he has the strength and balance to run through arm tackles and keep his feet vs. grab tackles. He also offers the added bonus of being a solid punt returner.

Overall, Chad is not a game-changing speed receiver, but he has all the tools and competitiveness to become a very good starting receiver in a season or two and will consitently get open, make all the catches, and make plays running after the catch. He will also contribute returning punts early in his career.

Now Jennings

Jennings is a player that is impressive. He is one of the few players at the position with no glaring weaknesses. He is a very good athlete with the foot quickness, balance and agility to make plays once he has the ball in his hands. While he lacks elite explosiveness and speed, Jennings runs sharp routes and has the ability to turn the cornerback around. This enables him to get better separation than most receivers who have better timed speed. While he is going to make a lot of big plays in the NFL, Jennings will get caught from behind more than he is used to. He runs hard with the ball and fights for extra yards until he is on the ground, and does a good job of blocking his man out of the play.

Overall, Jennings is the type of receiver who usually ends up slipping a bit in the draft because he lacks the great height or elite 40-yard dash time that teams usually focus on. However, his athleticism will combine with his football intelligence and instincts to let him contribute sooner than nearly all the other receivers available this year. In the end, he will become a very good starting receiver that will make big plays when running after the catch and as a punt returner.

kmac's last line is very true. There is a reason that TT is paid to do what he does. He scouted these guys for a great period of time, and if he honestly thought Jackson would solve our problems, he would have drafted him. The people who criticize the pick are no draft gurus, because if they were, they would be working in the NFL, which they are not.
