My guess is the Bears will rely more on the run than they did under Trestman. And Alshon Jeffery missed the preseason so his status for Sunday's game could affect their run/pass ratio.

Top 4 QB's in Packer franchise history are:

1. Bart Starr
2. Brett Farve
3. Aaron Rogers
4. Jay Cutler

Two of those QB's will be starting on Sunday.

AR will have a "I told you I didn't need Preseason work" kind of Day and throw 4 TD's

Look for Jay to find a few Packer "receivers" wide open!

The Bears ran for 235 yards during last year's game at Soldier Firld and yet we won by 21.
That's a good point - the Bears exploited the Packers "run defense" big time. Jay did help save the day with 2 INTs and the end-of-half attempt at a TD instead of FG was less than one yard short. Add in their failed on-side kick and that was it.

The Bears D will very likely be improved with Fox and staff. The question is how long will it take? The switch to a 3-4 won't be seamless and I hope all the talk on Bears radio about concern how their CBs will match up with the Packers' WRs is well founded.

I just hope we're more prepared to play the opener than last year. I'm very, very concerned about the defense, even against Cutler.

relax.... Against the Cutler we never use our defensive players. our defensive players become wide receivers, expect Cutler to target HaHa. Dont be suprise if Ha Ha gets more TD passes than our normal corp of wr.

Bears by 2 with a late score to win.
This forum would panic and assume the whole season is lost. probably be ready to start the rebuilding process lol.

I could see the bears winning anywhere from 9 games to 3 games. Where do you think they land this year?

We do owe a debt of gratitude to Cutty. If he ever applied himself on a consistent basis he could be a very good QB. But with his big contract he cares even less than usual. Hard to believe that's possible.

I'm sure the Bears' defense will be improved, but not nearly enough to slow down Rodgers and Co. I'm mostly looking for signs on how well our D is with the new corners, and CMIII prepared now for a dual role at LB. I expect Peppers to have a huge game.

As for STs? I'll probably just close my eyes. No wait, that's Zook's job now.

Bottom of the division. 6 wins, 8 tops.

Out of the clear blue western skies...
Conventional wisdom would seem to favor a slow start for the Bears, with a new coaching staff, new defensive philosophy, and a some rebuilding of the roster. If they finish at .500 it would be a very successful year for them.

The Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFC. Losing to them in week 1 would for sure be a terrible start, especially with McCarthy's emphasis on getting out of the gate fast.

MM is 5 and 4 in opening games while head coach. Lost the first in 2006 to the Bears, then won the next 5 openers before losing the last 3. The wins average just under 6 points. The losses averaged 15 points. Not exactly Secretariat-like fast starts.

I should have been more precise with my choice of words in the post above. McCarthy has put an emphasis on starting fast during this offseason.

I wasn't being argumentative, and knew what you were saying. But we haven't been ready the last 3 years, which is partly on MM I believe.

Add to that we played arguably the best teams in the league those 3 years.

Yeah, the slow starts have been frustrating over the last three years, especially considering we have lost more games during the first three weeks (3-6) than the rest of the way when Rodgers was healthy (26-5) during that period. It seems McCarthy has made some changes this offseason which hopefully will result in a good start to the 2015 season.
