Message: <blockquote data-quote="NinerFanSinceSeventy" data-source="post: 483247" data-attributes="member: 8735">I don't really buy this argument.  The 49ers brought in a large number of players post-Singletary that made a huge difference.  They drafted Aldon Smith, Colin Kaepernick, Chris Culliver, Kendal Hunter and Bruce Miller.  Smith and Miller started (at OLB and FB, respectively), Culliver and Hunter got a lot of play, and CK didn't do anything in 2011. They also added CB Carlos Rogers, S Donte Whitner, C Jonathan Goodwin, and PK David Akers, all who made impacts in 2011.  That's 6 new starters and 2 key backups added post Singletary. Without those players, I doubt the 49ers go 13-3 in 2011.  You also have to give credit to Harbaugh for putting the team together during a shortened offseason.  The offense was crippled the first half of the year to give Smith, a notoriously slow learner of systems, time to pick it up.  They did just about everything right in the 2011 season.  Except have a reliable backup punt returner.</blockquote>
