Notebook: Hurricane is no excuse for performance, Favre says

Brett Favre has a lot on his mind, but he’s not looking for excuses.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Favre’s house in Green Bay is serving as a temporary home for many family members, most of whom are homeless as a result of the hurricane that ravaged the Gulf Coast.

Favre’s childhood home was destroyed in the hurricane, and if the quarterback was thinking more about his family than football, it would be hard to blame him. But Favre was adamant that the distractions around him had nothing to do with his struggles in the Packers’ 17-3, season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions.

“At no time in my career have I ever used off-the-field tragedies or circumstances be an excuse for my play, and I’m not going to this time,â€

About Earl Little and his Tell-all meeting.....

I would hope he still has a few good (better?) seasons left in him while he's here with the Packers. We keep getting guys who are in the so-called twilight of their careers.... Wesley Walls comes to mind... I'd hope he wants to go out and retire with a resounding ooohhaaaaa!
