Nike is still planning on releasing the shoe, but is that good or bad?

At first I thought they should donate all earnings to the Humane Society, but would that be sending the right message?

Buy this person who held dogfighting events shoe and help the humane societey!!

*edit* please do not take this in any way of me condoning what this POS has done. Vick that is.

Well really what does it matter if they release it or not. Sales would dictate the shoes to be pulled from the market at some point. It is not as if the sales go directly to Vick.

Did Kobe's stuff come off the shelfs after his conviction?

Nike is trying to recapture some of their investment, albeit probably not much, but everyone with ties to Vick has been burned. Blank has 3rd degree burns in his wallet.

Think people would be ignorant enough to see someone wearing the Vick Shoe and label them as a animal hater?

Yep or at the very least view them as someone who is either involved with Dogfighting or condones it. Either way I really don't see the sales being that great for the shoe.

Now if I was part of the Nike brass... I would hold off the launch for 6 months to a year and see where the case goes. If convicted... donate the shoes to some third world charity or destroy them.

Vick better save his pennies cause his marketablity is dead and if takes a hit for any of the charges... so his is NFL career.

Hmm mute point now... guess the answer was NO ... Good for Nike.

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/2007-07-19-266071980_x.htm

After nearly 48 hours of hemming and hawing, one of the companies that pays Falcons quarterback Mike Vick a lot of money has taken action in response to Vick's indictment on federal conspiracy charges. The AP reports that Nike has decided to suspend the release of the latest product line named for Vick.

Retailers have been told that the Nike Air Zoom Vick V will not be distributed. Other Vick-related Nike products will remain in stores.

We've previously reported that Nike is expected not to abruptly dump Vick, but to eventually part ties with him in a move that will appear to be somewhat mutual.

Oh, and the story is already front-page news on the website owned and operated by the NFL.

Chances are they already have all the shoes made, and now are just testing the waters to see if this will destroy sales.
Chances are all the punks will still buy them with the money they made off their drug sales anyway. What do THEY care what Vick did. They will probably see it as a badge of honor. Thats how messed up our society has become.
I'm surprised that "Ginsui Knives" didn't get O.J. to do an infomercial for them.

I think its good Nike does not try to make profit off Vick.

Go buy Starbury One shoes instead!

Has anyone seen the shoe? I have not. No Idea what it looks like.

Why not just Just re-name the shoe and release it.

Call it the "Nike Air Zoom Lassie V"

Nike is gonna lose ALOT of money on those shoes!
I bet they will send them back to the factory, make a few changes on them so no one will know what they really are, and then repackage them.
