Some really heavyweight matchups this week. Previews of postseason matchups. This could be the separation time for playoff and non playoff teams. 2 QBs in the concussion protocol with NYG and Houston. One coach got the axe.

"Coach" Daboll gone. You were incorrectly auto-corrected. I think?

Just as the Eagles sang it he's; "Already Gone".
Apparently Raheem Morris in Atlanta is the next on the hit list.

Oh...re. Packers "beat" Giants next Sunday? I gotta go with the Packers. Sometimes teams get that coach fired bounce back game, but I don't think that Russell Wilson can deliver that. Besides, the Packers need there own bounce back after last night.
A better person to ask would be @milani who gets 67.6% of his picks right in 2025. I only get 64.2%.:( However, I am a little luckier with bingos.;)

I am contemplating this one. When the Packers let MM go they barely beat the Jets in OT, who were the worst in the NFL. The Giants, for some reason, have had our number lately. We lost to Daniel Jones in London. Got beat by Devito of all people somehow. So mentally the Packers have lacked focus when facing a bad Giant team.
The Giants, on the other hand, know they have no postseason. They have an interim coach and will be playing for media sympathy along with player contracts. If Dart were to start I would give the nod to the G men. Wilson is an old Packer nemesis but he does not have the supporting cast of the Legion of Doom.
Although the Packers lost 3 heartbreakers, they were losses, nonetheless. And that can be a disease for young teams. I do not think MLF can motivate this team to get down to business, particularly, the offense. Hafley had his D playing so hard even when the Eagles could have ran it down a lot more. But it is difficult to give that effort when your offense disappoints like they have 2 weeks in a row. And with all the injuries on the offensive side of the ball they cannot have anything but a vanilla game plan this week. We need one or two players on D to make some game changing plays.
MLF has a young team and they need confidence. But that comes when the coach makes the right decisions so they believe in him. MLF has not shown much of that. The McManus decision clearly was the wrong one in retrospect. The crunch time strategy is just as bad as the crunch time play calling.

Divisional matchups always display a wrinkle that appears different from non-divisional or non-conference games. Last week,e.g. Raiders-Broncos, Saints-Panthers, Bills-Dolphins.

Here is more insight. The Giants have elevated Winston to start Sunday at QB if Dart cannot clear concussion protocol. Wilson has been demoted. The last 4 games the G men have given up an average of 142 yards on the ground. They blew leads to both the Broncos and Bears very late in games that were winnable. Now since 2020 teams that have changed HC mid-season are 7-8 the first week. The Giants have Mike Kafka as interim coach. The candidates they have may not be available until the season end. One of them is Hafley who is from New Jersey. The Packers are familiar with Winston. He led the Saints that opening day Sunday to a 38-3 win years back over us with Sean Payton at the helm. Now in 2023 he took over against us in the 3rd quarter when the Saints QB Carr went down with a back injury with a 17-0 lead. The Packers rallied to an 18-17 win. Winston did not do much but got his team into long FG range with a minute left. The kicker missed it.
The Giants have nothing to play for except spoiler and next year. The Packers are reeling from 2 consecutive losses at home that went to the end. They lost 2 of their top starters on offense for the season suddenly. And they have a tendency to play to the level of the opposition be that better or worse. So one might think this is a good time to play the Giants. Maybe not. If we cannot beat Winston how will we beat anyone.

I saw Winston play Wilson and beat the Seahawks 14-5 in 2016 in Tampa. The following year I saw him lose to Brady and the Patriots 19-14, mostly due to Nick Folk missing three field goals. It was his last game in Tampa. Later on Folk became a very dependable kicker for the Pats.

A mistake, and relic from the closet that I got for Pats Bucs game in 2017. Winston is at times good, but holds onto the ball too long and overestimates his abilities.

That is what I noticed when he faced us in 2023. Indecisive. Probably will throw short and into the flat.
