It's true that we lost all three of those championship games against teams who beat us during the regular season, but there are several big differences between those games and this one. 1. We were objectively an inferior team in 2016 and 2019. Look at any team statistic. Atlanta and San Francisco were just much better squads. It wasn't even close honestly. I think our 2014 team was a real Super Bowl contender, but I would still have given the Seattle a narrow edge as the better team. And even so, it took a bizarre collapse for us to lose that NFCCG. Relatedly, just take a look at the lines in those games. We were underdogs by 8.5 in '14, 6.5 in '16, and 8 in '19. Few people thought we would win those games because we weren't the better team. This time around, I think most observers would say that we have a slight edge on Tampa, though that's debatable. Either way, we're favored by 3.5 points. 2. All three of those games were on the road. Huge difference. As to your point about the officials, there just isn't any truth to that at all. There is going to be a great storyline for the NFL no matter which teams win. Packers and Chiefs will be the State Farm Bowl with the perhaps the two most talented QBs ever facing off. The Bills are an inspiring story about a great football town finally having a winner. The refs are not intentionally going to give the games to Brady and Mahomes.
