My nephew is a Packers fan at 8 years old and from New England. We tried to convert him, but we haven't had success yet. I like the Pats, but I am open minded to learn about the Packers. I am planning on bringing him and my husband to the August game. We are looking at lower level endzone seats. So let me know if anyone has sat there and if they are good seats. Anyone been to the Brett Tailgate party? We are also looking for hotels in the area. So anyone with suggestions please let me know. We might fly into Chicago..how far is the drive to Green Bay area?

Thanks,
TD

I would guess that would be about a 3-4hr drive from North Chicago to GB. It took about and hour and a half (maybe 2 hours) from Chicago to Milwaukee and another two hours from Milwaukee to GB. It's a straight shot, all interstate. I would suggest flying into Milwaukee or even GB.

Glad to have you in the site TD.

Thanks

My husband works for an airline, so Chicago is the best place for us to fly to receive a discounted on Airfare. I will look into GB flights.

We were thinking of heading there a day or so early to check out the stadium. I think they offer tours.

Thanks,
TD

Yeah one of the locals can jump in on the tours aspect. You are correct though, they sure do, I'm just not sure on the "when and where" of them. (You might try using the search feature of the site for "tours" or "stadium tours" etc, I know people have talked about them in the past.

Totally understand the airline thing as well. There are few that fly into GB, more that fly into Milwaukee but tons into ORD or (scarey) Midway.

Hi Td from NH--I am PWT36 from DePere, Wi. just 4 miles from Lambeau. I am one of the locals who can help you with any Info you need about Lambeau Field& Green Bay. I noticed your posting yesterday morning and gathered some Info, which you need to know, if you are coming to G.B. I will do it in in a series of seperate posting as one would be too long. First of all G.B. is the smallest city in major league sports. That presents on big problem concerning hotel rooms. During the regular season season, the rooms are taken almost as soon as the Packer's home schedule is announce. it is not quite as bad as that for pre season games, but the problem is still there. When 70,000 people head for Lambeau Field( many come in from everywhere) into a City Metro area of 240.000, there are not enough hotels to take care of the demand. So some have to book rooms in surounding cities like Oshkosh, Appleton, Neenah, Sheboygan, Manitowoc and other smaller cities which are 1/2 hr to 1 hr driving time from G.B. on 4 lane I or State hiways. Tickets to pre season games are plentiful and are much more reasonably priced than regular season games, but Lambeau Field has been sold out since 1960. Tickets are only available through Ticket Brokers or from individual fans. Some advertise in The Green Bay Press Gazette either to buy tickets to go to the game or to sell tickets. Scalpers sell tickets to the game in certain area east of the stadium in front of old Arena just right across Oneida St from Lambeau. No one can sell tickets in Lambeau Field parking lot. I understandPolice are really going to enforce law and make them sell tickets in that area described above. Sometimes people will sell tickets for face value especially during Pre season when the ticket demand is low!! You should be able to get better seats than the End zone for rather good price for Patriots game, if it was packerswere playing the Vikings, Bears, or Cowboys during the regular season demand would be high. You would take what you can get and whatprice you can get it for. Look for my next posting on Hotels!!

Hi TD =-this PWT 36 again. With information on Hotels rooms. First of all since Hotels are in short supply in Green Bay during Packer home game weekends. The Hotels in the Green Bay area charge premium prices for their hotel rooms. A good resource I understand is : Brown County Regional Tourism Bureau. I think they are clearing house the hotels use for informing people of the hotel room vacancies. I have never had need to use this service, but have only heard about it. Phone number is: 888-867-3342. Sounds like toll free number. For some reason this doesn't work for you, let me know. I checked at the Bay Motel and Family Restaurant, which is just about less than a mile from Lambeau Field Friday afternoon. Reservations must be made at 888-775-7590. but they have web site but not to take reservations www.beymotelgreenbay.com. Bay Motel is triple A approved. The motel rooms are very clean and completely refurbished about 3 years ago including new A/c units. Room front parking, In room coffee, hair dryer and refrigerator. There is a full service restaurant attached with complete menu of food, family priced and serves from early in the morning to around 7-8 at night. Food is good. The rooms are very clean, The motel is 60's type of motel but you would never know it. It is not a great big 5 story ultra modern but it is mderately priced forPacker home game week end. They have but two rooms rooms left. The room would a double bed and fold down bed for your nephew. Room Cost is $90.40 a day.. Most the other big chain hotels would be $160-$170-$180 a day range. You can sleep at Bay just well as in those chain hotels for a lot less money. Start your room search imediately if the Bay has only two rooms left, the conditions could be the same at other hotels or worse. Try Brown Count Regional Tourism The next post will be tickets availability.

I am back again TD - Tickets as I said in first posting for that game should be no problem' don't settle for end zone ticket. Since Lambeau is still a one level bowl, all seats have a fine view ,if you are spending a lot cash to come to Lambeau shoot for best seat you can get. Regular seating in end zone and near the end zone is ticket face value is $55.00 and and $65.00 for anything near on on the 50 yard lne. As I said pre season games are less expensive. Buying tickets from fans is like bartering. They start high, you try to get it lower. however, it you want tickets before you leave home. Use a ticker Broker. I will give you three ticket brokers in Green Bay Area. Ticket King located just one block from lambeau. Email: www.theticketking.com--Phone number 800-992-7328--Schmitty's Tickets Combined Locks, Wi. near Green Bay 920-759-6266----Fox RiverTickets---Email:www.FoxRiversTicket.com---Phone 920-336-6500 . I will post some more info about Air travel to Green Bay and info about Lambeau field,City of Green BAy Tailgating, Tours etc tomorrow. P.S. buying tickets for Pre season packer games, each broker charges different prices.and sometime the cost goes down if the demand is low for the game you are interested in but will go up if the demand is high. Strange way of operating isn't it?

Everything else is new. The Atrium (five story building on the northside of Lambeau Field houses the Packer general offices, Players locker rooms weight oponet's locker rooms. Two Packer Pro Shops which all types of items with the Packer logo "G" or Green Bay Packers written on it- like sweat shirts, caps, jacket, shirts etc. Curly's Restaurant and sports bar, Hall of Fame Bar & Grill, Ice Cream Parlor, other fast Food Restaurants There are tours of Lambeau Field escorted by a tour guide Cost $7.00. There are bleechers to sit on & view the Packer practice sessions during Packer summer Training camp sessions. The Bleechers are located up close to the training field. You also can see the annual ritual between the boys of Green Bay and Packer players who ride the boy's bikes between Lambeau and training and back to Lambeau. Nothing like seeing -OG- Tauscher riding one of these small Bikes to and from the Lambeau to the practice Field two times a day during Summer Training camp. There are tables set up for some Green Bay Packer players to sign autographs after Practice near Lambeau Field. There is no Brett Farve tailgating. you must mean Brett Farve's Steak House located near lambeau. Don't forget to get to the game real early to see what is going on in the Lambeauparking lot around Lambeau Field. It is full of Packer Tailgaters. Packer fans know how to tailgate. you will have to see it, to believe it . Wear you colors, even if if they are Patriot colors or tell the Packer tailgaters that you are Packer fans from NH. They will probably Wine and dine you!! Packers fans are friendly, love to party and are generous. Next posting will be about Green Bay and about the Airport.

TD. Last in series of my posting of Info. you might be able to use in your planning of a trip to Green Bayand Wisconsin. As mentioned in an earlier posting you and your family might want to tie in a summer vacation in Wisconsin, since you investing money and time coming to Green Bay for a Packer game. To give you an idea how popular this state is for people to vacation in Wisconsin.Tourist spent $11.8 billion dollars in Wisconsin last year 2004. Green Bay/Brown County share was $474.99 million up 7.89% (increase has has a lot to due with The Packers and renovated Lambeau Field) Another unique vacation area is located 35 miles north of Green Bay on Wi. Hwy 57 North. It is is Door County (largest City in Door County is Sturgeon Bay (Population around 10,000) Email address: www. doorcounty.com From Welcome to Door County magazine: " With more state parks, lighthouses, and miles of shoreline than any county in the United States, this 75 mile peninsula combines prestine scenery with acclaimed performing arts, renowned art galleries and shops and pampering accommodations. million visitors like From Southern Door to Rock Island outdoor recreational opportunities abound, Eleven golf coarses, hundred miles of hiking and biking trails, dozens of beaches, horseback riding, camping. Hunt for treasures in one of a kind shops, galleries, museums & lighthouses." . There are three State parks in Door County. Peninsula State Park at Fish Creek, in my opinion is the best state park in Wisconsin. It has it's own golf coarse and beautiful beach for swimming called Nicolet Bay. --Now on to Wisconsin Dells. it is about 150 miles South west of Green Bay located on I 90,94 Email address: wisdells.com Phone number 1-800-223-3557 Thereare Water & Amusement parks at Wisconsin Dells. it is home to America's Largest indoor and outdoor waterparks with over 200 watersides.
