Message: <blockquote data-quote="Heyjoe4" data-source="post: 1062624" data-attributes="member: 13032">Good point D.  Especially in the early games against running QBs in Philly and Indy, Gary was very unselfish in, as you say, setting an edge and keeping Hurts and Richardson in the pocket, and forcing RBs back to the middle of the field, or out of bounds.  That certainly cut into his sack numbers, so I should not have included Gary in my list of guys who need to step up.  If anything, Gary's play to secure the edge was good for the team, even without sacks.  And the DL throughout the season played well against the run.  It's not all about passing.And that's why "production" numbers need to be kept in context to the game plan the team was running.What I would like to see this year is a DL, the "down four" who can pressure fro the middle and have the athleticism and smarts to stop or slow the run.</blockquote>
