    I'd say SB 32.
AND the playoff game against the 49er's, where i think it was Jerry Rice, who fumbled, and we recovered, but the refs blew the call. There was no "instant replay" back then. The 49er's went in and scored and won the game. That stung.

When we lost to the Broncos after the '97 season. That was by FAR the saddest.

That's why I'm not so disgusted over this loss. It was nothing compared to that one.

In 2nd place, when we lost to the Cows in '82. That one really hurt. The only highlight of that game was James Lofton (my fave player) got a 71 yard TD run.

People have been asking me why I haven't been all pissed off and moping the last few days, and I told them it's because it's not nearly as painful as SB XXXII. That one hurt bad. Going into the Super Bowl as the defending champions...and losing. That was so much more disappointing.

Actually not a football moment. Back home I was a Pirates fan during the 70's - The saddest sports day was when we learned Roberto Clemente had been lost in a plane crash.

Losing the 1994 Stanley Cup finals in 7 games

I guess I should add when Iowa lost to Iowa State in 2002. That was our only loss during the season. Had it not been for that loss, we would have been kicking Miami's a** for the National Championship, instead of Ohio State...ugh...I better stop talking about it...

Clippers needing to win 1 of last 2 games to make playoffs and losing both so the Warriors made into the NBA playoffs, that still hurts NOW!

The loss last week. Absolutely, positively without question. MUCH worse than losing vs Denver to me.

It is not even close for me.

2001 Daytona 500- My first trip to Daytona, the last lap.... The crowd going freaking crazy... Then The Crash. Funny thing was it did not look bad at all. When word hit the crowd that Dale was dead it was bedlam. Grown men weeping like babies.

I still wear my Dale Earnhardt "The Intimidator" Jacket I bought there.

    It was the ultimate loss.

Packers vs Philly (the 4th and 26 game) Not sure if I was more sad or pissed because we decided to punt on a 4th and 1 right near the end as Green was running the ball amazing that game. I believe in my heart if we go for it Green gets the first down and we go to the NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl.

Canada vs Sweden (Olympics 1994 Gold Medal Hockey Game) Losing in a shootout in hockey sucks. Shootouts and Penalty Kicks are the worst way to end a game. It's like having a field goal competition end a football game.

Canada vs United States (1996 World Cup of Hockey) Canada wins game one in the States and proceeds to lose 2 games in a row in this best of 3 on home ice.

Packers vs Broncos (Super Bowl XXXII) I still don't know how they lost that game.

On the personal side. Finding out Terry Fox died. Not sure if you consider his run across Canada as a sport, but I do. To a lesser extent when I found out the Mario Lemieux and Saku Koivu had cancer hit me pretty damn hard. Thankfully both recovered, but as someone who has seen the effects of cancer way too much in his life, it hurt to see guys I truly respect get the disease.

You weren't born in '82? Wow! You're young.

That was a fun year though. I have no idea how we lost to the Lions twice, but that opening game of the season was one of the most fun games ever played. We were down 23-0 at halftime, then came back to win 35-23. It was crazy.

Our O was unstoppable. We had a relatively healthy Lynn Dickey throwing to James Lofton, John Jefferson, and Paul Coffman, all three Pro Bowlers. And we had a Pro Bowl C in Larry McCarren, who is now a Packers announcer/analyst.

Oh my gosh. You were there?

That's really sad. I'm not a racing fan, but I was even sad that day. I even knew who Dale Earnhardt was. Everyone I talked to who saw that crash dismissed it as just another crash, until they found out he had died. It didn't look that bad, is what they said.

I can't imagine what it was like there when Dale Sr. died. That must have been horrible. Like was said, it didn't look like the crash was that bad. I have seen lots worse on TV, and here what appeared to be just a "normal" crash took his life. But he went out doing what he loved.

I have to add the Brewers loss in game 7 of the 82 world series. They haven't even "sniffed" a WS title since then.

Agreed man, we couldn't beat USC but maybe we could of beaten Miami.

    Scothawks 2002 Hawkeye Highlights

Another one for the Hawkeyes is in 2006 they were 4-0, # 13 in the nation and played against # 1 Ohio State at home. Hawkeyes lost 38-17 (I think that was the score) and then won 2 out of there last 8 games finishing 6-6.

The day my oldest son who was a defending State wrestling Champion got his shoulder torn up in a high school wrestling meet.
He was entertaining college scholarship offers and on that day his wrestling career was effectively ended.
