Just got back from a trip to New York. She told me she went into a sports shop and asked if they by any chance had some Packer shirts as a present for me. She said she was greeted by three assistants giving her an icy glare, and an emphatic "NO MA`AM, WE DO NOT !". Seems we are not popular everywhere after all. :D

NY doesn't have any teams that are continueiously in the playoffs. This will be our 5th straight yr to make the playoffs

You might have gotten off lucky due to the accent. lol
NY city folks take their sports seriously and by asking for packers gear, that was a sure fire way to piss in their corn flakes. You just need to utilize the web bro, order from many online nfl apparel shops and you are sure not not get and ice glare or any anti packer banter

It may take some digging but I would think that anything, and I mean anything, can be found in NYC.
    Even Packers shirts.

Sorry she had such a bad experience but I'm not surprised. Don't try getting one in Philly either. I have to say she wouldn't of had a better go of it. I know from personal experience, during the season of 2010, I went to the Model's sports store in Philly to get a Clay Matthews jersey. I didn't see any out on the floor so I asked a sales rep who stared me down until I eventually just walked out of the store. I guess the answer was a big NO.

People sometimes are just silly. I hope she had better times with the rest of her visit.

Sounds like these sales clerks need a lesson in sportsmanship 101 ... eesh!

    1. sportsmanship

    2. In general, sportsmanship refers to virtues such as fairness, self-control, courage, and persistence, and has been associated with interpersonal concepts of treating others and being treated fairly, maintaining self-control if dealing with others, and respect for both authority and opponents.
Anyways...it was nice that she was thinking of getting you something anyways!

She`s driven me mad since she got home :p. Keeps talking to me while the game is on. I`ve had to lock her in the shed.

Two points: First, in addition to sportsmanship 101, I'd suggest capitalism 101, depending upon how many "foreign" apparel/other items requests they get.

And Bill, this question has nothing to do with your post above this one: Just out of idle curiosity, how would I reach your local police by phone from Wisconsin? ;)

First get your story straight and remember, admit nothing!

(Also, if you were thinking she may find this recent exchange humorous, think again.):cautious:

I stripped two wires out of a table lamp and turned it on. Apart from the burn on her nightdress, she`s fine now. No foul :whistling:

I thought NYC was a horrible sports town in regards to out of town teams. I went there during the NFL season a few years ago and the Pack was playing so I figured I could find a bar that had the nfl package and all the games......hell no. They showed the 2 games that were on TV there and that was it. I had to have checked out 10 bars in the area I was in and no packers game. You also don't get soda refills at their restaurants.....wtf is with that!!!

I know an English Giants fan who couldn`t bring herself to say congratulations after we won the Superbowl, and that told me all I needed to know about New York fans. I was dreading she`d come home with a Favre shirt to be honest, so I was relieved.

She loved it thank you :). She got a stiff neck from constantly looking up she said. I just need to get her to Green Bay sometime soon.

Didn't you hear about the big deal of the mayor wanting to ban the giant sized cups of soda?
What you experienced probably is a compromise from that.
I think it has to do with the sugar and obesity connection.
