Who do you think is the most overpaid player on the team?

Sam Shields hasn´t lived up to the contract he signed last offseason. With him making an average of $9.75 million per season I think it´s fair to say he´s the most overpaid player on the team as of now.

No doubt Captain is right about Shields. Who knows, maybe this is why TT went so heavy on DB's this year? I think we all expect more out of Shields and I think Sundays game had to be a personal wake up call for him on that. Don't forget two "over paid non-Packers" still counting against the cap AJ Hawk ($1.6 M) and Brad Jones ($1 M)

Not to hijack the thread, bu I think an even better question is "Who is the most underpaid value on the Packers?" Right now I would say James Jones was a steal and Cobb as well. Hard to throw the rookie contracts in that mix, but obviously Lacey, Daniels, Linsley, Hyde and Bakhtiari are earning way more then they are paid.

This site is pretty nice too:

Cobb, while being of major importance to the Packers offense, is hardly underpaid at $10 million per season.

Tim Masthay. $1.36 million / year is way too much to pay a holder.

This list is pretty much Shields and........... Yep that's pretty much it. The fact that a pretty good player, just one that is slightly overpaid, is really the only guy you can really look at here let's you know volumes about how good of cap shape we're in

No doubt it's Shields, and maybe his last season in Green and Gold?? I haven't been too impressed with his play over the last couple years, too inconsistent.

And with all the young talent on roster, I actually hope TT goes in that direction

Spot on. We need a punter.

Steve Weatherford is still a free agent. Kicked well for the Giants and was cut for youth and money savings. Wouldn't that be a nice twist.....First the Giants give us JJ and then Weatherford.

Personally, I don't see TT making the move because of this whole "Masthay is Crosby's trusted holder" vibe.

Should clay Matthews be in the conversation?

*scratches his head* As being under or over paid? I couldn't ask much more from Matthews, other then maybe a few more sacks. But his interception on Sunday was the major turning point in the game. Imagine Hawk or Brad Jones in a similar situation? Hawk's helmet would have flown off and hit the ball, Brad might have caught it, but probably would have run the wrong way with the ball. Matthews switch to the inside last year seemed to be a big factor in our defensive improvement as well. So even though he isn't getting as many sacks, he is being asked to do a lot more.

I'm pretty "ok" with Clay Matthews and what he is being paid. :coffee:
