you're darn right. A guy doesn't spend 40 years in a profession for nothing. He was a pretty decent coach, and a not so good GM for us. It's not like the guy went off the deep end with hookers and cocaine. He helped out a HS team when they didn't have a coach and the team was almost dropped from the school. This article didn't hide facts either. It's right out there they didn't win a game and lost by a lot almost every single time. They didn't try and paint him as a savior. They also didn't try to degrade him either. There's a definite difference in the angle of the story, that is for certain. and one is much more fact heavy and it isn't the first one. it's junk journalism again. Find an angle and run with it. "Facts" and circumstances be damned. If we can smear a guy, let's do it, we'll get more clicks. Almost every poster on this thread recognized the challenges in coaching a HS football team and it's not an indictment on a guys life long commitment to the sport. but you're right, i appreciated the 2nd article much more in the fact that it gave the facts and showed that who you are and where you've been doesn't always mean you'll have success everywhere you go. You can paint the harsh realities of time and professions and games, and jobs moving on and leaving a guy that has dedicated a lifetime to it back where we all start without trying to trash the guy. Journalists like this are the ones that will then write an article on how Awesome Favre is and that he brought a state championship to his high school when he joined their staff. Conveniently leaving out the fact they have had a highly successful program before he ever stepped foot back on the field and had one a state championship just 3 or 4 years previous. Not even a graduating class later. The 2 situations couldn't be more different.
