IMO - most of his problems stemmed from not being able to control Rodgers once Aaron's ego got a death grip on the team. Sure he could have been more innovative, but I think that some of that falls on what Rodgers wanted and the control he was able to exert over Mike in the second half of his career.

I'll take a Super Bowl every +/-14 years (1996, 2010)....hey, that means that we are due!

I think his inability to get receivers open his last couple years was the big problem. He just seemed to refuse to change his offensive scheme even though it wasn't working worth a damn. Since hardly anybody got open; I don't blame it at all on Rodgers.

Also held on to Capers too long. But his replacements didn't do any better, so it probably didn't make that big of a difference. Difficulty in choosing a defensive coordinator then.

We are due. But I don't really get the feeling that we're knocking on the doorstep, unfortunately.

I've never seen his family, but as far as McCarthy himself is concerned, I don't think he's in any immediate danger of starving.
I remember Holmgren getting big as a house too. Andy Reid? Those 3 were pretty thin as assistants and got big enough to block the sun as HC's.

What is it about head coaching that does that to you? Probably large frames to begin with, having football backgrounds. Then probably a lot of bulking foods served at the facility, but not hitting the weight room to burn the calories. MLF looks pretty small for a coach.

Mrs. Montro and I lasted six. :) I always tell her she should have hung in there for four more years, she could have gotten my social security.
Sounds like a Politically motivated Union! You didn’t happen to go through spousal impeachment proceedings in an election year I hope?

Always liked Big Mike.
Everything came together for him (and us) in the 2010 season, whatever else you think of him.
I'm impressed that he was able to present himself well enough to get hired in Dallas and now Pittsburgh. Sounds like he works hard at keeping up with the game. Is this a play to get Rodgers to play another year? Or to drive him off lol?

I do like MM wish him the best. My early guess is the steelers shoot for Willis for like three year deal and look for a QB for MM to develop.

It occurs to me that maybe the Steelers remember McCarthy beating them in the Super Bowl. Just like Dallas remembered McCarthy beating them.

This has got to be a big thrill for MM to coach his hometown team.
I've always wondered what it must be like to be a pro football player (or coach in this case) and work for a team that was your favorite growing up - or that wasn't your favorite growing up, for that matter? Do you still root for your favorite team, except when you play for them? If you work for a team you hated, does that help you see it more as just a job? Or does the team you play on become your new favorite team? Or are these all stupid ideas professionals wouldn't even think about?
