Rodgers definitely didn't play a great game but it's ludicrous to solely blame him for the loss. First of all, I don't know how many drops the receivers had but even if I'm going with a pretty low number of three Rodgers threw only another seven incompletions during the entire game. In addition the protection by the offensive line was shaky at best. And before some of you jump all over me, I agree he deserves part of the blame for the loss, there's no doubt about it. But, there are other reasons the team lost as well. - The entire red zone offense was off with the running game contributing to it (two carries for one yard on the first drive, an average of 3.7 yards per attempt for the game). - MLF going for on it 4th-and-1 on their own 32 in the first quarter with them being up 3-0. In addition a terrible play call in that situation, resulting in three points for the Lions. - Jones fumbling on the Lions 24, taking most likely at least three points off the board. - The defense allowing Detroit to move the ball 75 yards in 1:15 minute after the fumble just before halftime, resulting in another three points for the Lions. - MLF kicking a field goal from 53 yards when it was probable Crosby's range was about 48/49 yards in those conditions instead of punting it. - The defense giving up a long completion on the second play after that resulting in a touchdown for the Lions on the very next play. Once again, I'm not suggesting Rodgers doesn't deserve any blame but it's ignorant to ignore any of those plays listed above as reasons the Packers came up short. Dillon averaged 3.7 yards per carry with a long run of nine. While he wasn't a dud he wasn't a stud either. The Packers can't walk away from the contract they signed Rodgers to though. That's a huge overreaction to a terrible interception late in the game. In my opinion it's lame to argue that because Rodgers is the highest paid player on the team he should be able to overcome all other mistakes to carry the team to victory. That's not how any of this works. I'm not sure how an interception on a play for the team's own 33 yard line takes away six points of the offensive performance. In addition why on earth is Rodgers to be blamed for the turnover on downs on their own 31??? Once again, there are other players to blame for the offense to have scored only 16 points as well.
