We're not talking about him.</p><p></p><p>Depending on the length of the performance, the routine took equally amusing detours.</p><p></p><p>COSTELLO: When you pay off the first baseman every month, who gets the money?</p><p>ABBOTT: Every dollar of it. Sometimes his wife comes down and collects it.</p><p>COSTELLO: Whose wife?</p><p>ABBOTT: Yes.</p><p></p><p>COSTELLO: Has St. Louis got a good out field?</p><p>ABBOTT: Oh yeah, has it got an good out field.</p><p>COSTELLO: Who's your out field?</p><p>ABBOTT: Now listen,who is on...</p><p>COSTELLO: If you say who is on first one more time, I'll break your arm!</p><p>ABBOTT: Alright, what do you want me to tell you?</p><p>COSTELLO: The name of the out fielder.</p><p>ABBOTT: Tomorrow.</p><p>COSTELLO: What time?</p><p>ABBOTT: What time what?</p><p>COSTELLO: What time tomorrow are you going to tell me his name!</p><p>ABBOTT: No,it is his name!</p><p>COSTELLO: Oh! Now I want to be a pitcher on the team.</p><p>ABBOTT: Ok I can arange that.</p><p>COSTELLO: Ok, now me being a good pitcher I throw the ball, the guy bunts the ball, I throw the ball to first base... now, who's got it?</p><p>ABBOTT: Naturally...</p><p>COSTELLO: Oh, so I throw the ball to Naturally.</p><p>ABBOTT: You do nothing of the kind, you throw the ball to Who.</p><p>COSTELLO: Naturally.</p><p>ABBOTT: That's it.</p><p>COSTELLO: That's what I said!</p><p>ABBOTT: That's not what you said! You pick up the ball and throw it to who?</p><p>COSTELLO: He better get it! I pick the ball throw to 1st base, he throws it to what, then I don't know, a triple play. Another guy hits a long one.
