Looks like we are betting on him, so deserves his own thread.

Probably a tad high, but one player I'm happy we have back....esp for the return game.

I couldn't find the other thread, but I know some posters weren't happy with the price the Packers paid for Nixon. With the new kickoff rules and his abilities at slot corner, seems like this guy thinks he is the Packers "best contract".

Bullard should be our slot corner. Especially if we do any single high or if Evan Williams keeps overachieving. Nixon has not, at least to this point, been a slot I trust.

*Should* is the important word here. However, I never like to project a rookie into any position.

On top of that, we need to see how everyone responds in Hafley's defense. Nixon had some really good moments and at times in big games (like the INT against Mahomes) but he wasn't quite the guy. It sounds like Rashan Gary and others are really thriving under Hafley. Nixon could be one of those guys too, allowing players like Bullard to grow into the role.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Yes, I hope Bullard and Williams progress fast in their rookie season, but at least with Nixon you have a known commodity. I still hope to see our secondary improve, just based on a new DC and the front 7 doing their job at making the secondary's job that much "easier".

Personally I’d rather have any of our other DBs try it vs Nixon. He gambles WAY TOO MUCH and play to play I just a mediocre slot guy.

Nixon is another example of the brilliance of Gutenkunst. Thanks to bringing Bisaccia aboard, he also landed Nixon.

Many do not know that Keisean was a JUCO transfer (2nd team All American) who snagged 5 INT and double digit PD’d in 1 season and suddenly got everyone’s attention. South Carolina pursued Keisean and he instantly became a premier CB, leading the team in many key categories. It didn’t end there. Draft Scout had him as a 4th-6th RD and NFL.com solid 6th-7th Rd prospect. After going UDFA he was snatched by the Raiders. Brian pursued him and in 2022,2023 seasons he earned ALL PRO-1 KR consecutive seasons and dabbled in MLF Offense. Yet he was always a CB. in his very 1st NFL starting season at CB? He PFF graded 64.5% (55% is about the mean at CB) His Pass Rush grade?? 92.7 PFF grade!! #4/222 CB’s in the NFL Nixon guy is a total stud for a UDFA and everyone F’d up big time letting him go undradted. With the new KR rule, he’s poised to hurt some opponents. He’s VERY deceptive in space. He always has been, in JUCO in His first season he returned 2 KR TD’s. He’s a Standout Elite KR and very likely has growth left at CB. Gute gets an A+ for landing and retaining this player. In a 2019 draft retake he’d go Top 75 overall and I’m being conservative if I were laying $$ I’d put him at #65 overall.

I like Nixon. His only problem is the Packers. If they had a couple of top CBs he would be dynamite. He plays well but isn't elite, so he gets viewed in a poor lens by fans that only see him in the context of a #1 CB.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Fortunately, he isn't being paid like an elite CB either. His base salary is $4.3M, but due to previous contract years, his cap hit will be $7.166M. Still a bargain for a capable starting CB.

Oh yeah. The $$ exchange for his services is an easy team Win.
I know he’s on the shorter side for a CB at 5’10.2” but he plays bigger than that. 2024 being his 1st season as a starting CB he finished quite well. He’s slightly above the mean rating wise.

My hope is that he elevates going into year 2 as a starter. He’ll be tested early and often

He appears to be a new generation AJ Hawk. He seems to be there to play anywhere, anytime, they need him. He stays on the field while everyone else gets hurt. Give him about 3-4 years and he will be eligible for Old Timers Day every year.
