[QUOTE="Voyageur, post: 1099254, member: 17953"] As a police officer, I investigated quite a few domestic violence incidents. Some were factual, others were pretty much created by the so-called victim with the intent of inflicting pain on the other, whether it be arrest, essentially extorting money, or for just plain spite. In most cases, within 72 hours you were quite certain whether or not you were going to be filing charges. The longer it drags out, the more you could see it fit into the latter categories, not where actual physical abuse took place. In Josh's case, no matter what the outcome is, he chose a person to share time with who seems to have had an ulterior motive for being around him more than an emotional affinity for each other. That's the part that's at least on him. We need to be careful in our choices of association, no matter how deep the connection is. There's a reason that about 50% of all marriages end up in divorce. People don't really take the time to ensure the person they intend spending their lives with is the right one. No matter what, Josh will always have this hanging around his neck like a weight. It's sad it happens, but it does. Is he guilty of a crime? That's highly unlikely or he would have been charged with a crime. A misdemeanor isn't a crime, it's usually a stupid decision that leads to something you could regret the rest of your life, but worse, something that some people love to pick at on others, like a wound.
