Jolly's court date moved to Sept. 16

Green Bay -- A Houston court has reset the date for a hearing on felony drug charges against Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly to Sept. 16, a Houston assistant district attorney said Wednesday..
Jolly, 25, was arrested July 8 in Houston for possession of at least 200 grams of codeine, which constitues a second-degree felony, according to court documents. He posted $10,000 bond and was released at the time.
He has been taking part in Packers' training camp and is expected to be in uniform for the team's exhibition finale Thursday night.
Jolly's new court date falls on a Tuesday, which is a normal day off for the players.
UPDATE: According to Houston assistant district attorney Donna Hawkins, the case has yet to be indicted, which means it has not gone to a grand jury. Sometime in the next couple of weeks - unless Jolly reaches a plea agreement -- a grand jury made up of nine to 12 people will decide whether there is enough evidence to take Jolly to trial.
At the Sept. 16 court date, a decision will be made whether to continue on with the charges. If Jolly is indicted, he has the option to make a plea agreement or seek a trial. A trial date would be decided at that time.
The grand jury has the option of calling in Jolly to testify.
If the grand jury doesn't reach a decision before the new trial date, the Sept. 16 hearing will be an examining trial to see if there is enough evidence to take the case to trial.
