http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qA-WjRPUvY Not pretty!! He did have surgery Paterno breaks bone in left leg; status uncertain for Temple State College, PA (Sports Network) - Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno was diagnosed with a tibial plateau fracture of his left leg and ligament damage in the knee, an injury suffered during a sideline collision with two players during Saturday's 13-3 loss to Wisconsin. Penn State Director of Athletic Medicine Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli examined Paterno Saturday night and again earlier Sunday morning in State College, a town more despondent over Paterno's injury than the club's fourth loss of the season. The statue of Paterno found outside Beaver Stadium had a bandage over the left leg. A sign was hung on the statue that read, "Get well soon JoePa, we love you!" Paterno suffered the injury when Wisconsin defender DeAndre Levy's helmet drove into his knee following a pass to tight end Andrew Quarless early in the third quarter. Paterno attempted to put weight on his left leg, but eventually found his way to the bench and then the locker room for further evaluation. Sebastianelli's examinations revealed the fracture of the top of his left shin bone and knee injuries. A decision on whether to operate or rehabilitate the injuries will be based upon what will include the fastest recovery. Paterno had a normal Sunday with his coaches -- reviewing Saturday's game and beginning preparations for next week's home game against Temple. He plans on preparing to coach the game against the Owls, but if not defensive coordinator Tom Bradley would likely assume the decision-making duties. The Nittany Lions (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) have Temple and a home date with Michigan State left on their schedule. Paterno is in his 41st season as head coach at Penn State. He guided the Nittany Lions to an Orange Bowl victory and Big Ten championship last season.
