Star is my #1 in this draft, but I doubt our med team clears him. I don't think Joeckel is special, he'll never get any better than he is now, so I go Fisher. Not quite as polished or safe as Joeckel, but much higher ceiling.
Floyd is the next guy up
Jordan is a ROLB prospect to me, so he's out.
After that Vacarro.
Eric Fisher was average at run blocking in the MAC conference. He wasnt able to dominate 260 pound defensive linemen. He looks great with his shirt off, and has athleticism, but lacks the leg strength and core to be able to move NFL defensive linemen. I really dont see him as anything more than late first, early second round pick even though he will probably go top ten.
Packers need a mauler somewhere on the OL. They dont have a single one on their roster. Chad Clifton was very slow his last year with the Pack, but at least he could still maul better than any of the other guys we had. Thats is why our running game is terrible. Our guys lack the strength necessary to move other guys out of the way consistantly. They are all pass blocking specialist. Without a running game to control the clock, the defense takes too many snaps, gets tired, and is unable to pass rush effectively.
I would MUCH rather draft DJ Fluker over Joeckel, and especially the unproven Eric Fisher. Fisher is too tall, short arms, and weak legs. Not the kind of guy I want, even though he has potential. Fluker is the guy with potential. 37 inch arms, legs like tree trunks, and the widest shoulders and chest you will ever see on a linemen. Pack needs to stop drafting overacheiving, short armed, weak legged white guys at OL. Only guy they have who has talent is Josh Sitton, and even he is overrated because his QB is Aaron Rodgers. Bulaga was never anything more than average. You will see it again this year. His arms are too short.
Packers need to draft someone who can dominate in the run game, or we will have the same results as last year, a soft team that looks great against weak opponents, but gets whooped when they go up against real competition.
