If Gute has a Day 1 WR ranked within about 6-8 spots of a selection that comes up and there’s no other prospect that’s just a complete monster standing in the way? Get that WR out of the way early and cook while the coals are hot

Yeah it was in reference to someone asking if I felt the Watkins deal changes anything and I was mentioning that perhaps it loosens up some of the "must get WR" approach from a WR within 8 or so rankings left vs BPA to now maybe 6 or so away.

Gute isn't the type to ignore a prospect he sees fall well past what our staff feels they should (Gary is prime example of this) but also knows full well where his glaring holes are and will come away with a few prospects I'd bet that are a need oriented type picks.

Oh I think he’s purposely and consciously thinking WR early and often. Yet we could grab another pass catching TE or another WR in trade IF (big IF) we somehow get boxed out of our primary WR target in some Walmart like, Black Friday shopping stampede for Wideouts.

I see Pickens as a first round talent, so I don't care if we pick him in the first round with any pick

Agree with you. But I don't see him there when we pick and I think trading up would cost too much. Pickens and Burks or Dotson would be really good imho.

I'm not sure he'll be there either. I keep reading these draft takes that say he's a 2nd rounder maybe late first and then I watch him and I can't help but think he'll be one of the first 3-4 off the board.

I knew that. It’s just weird how the PFF SIM allows you to trade back and pick up sooooooo many extra depth picks. Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt was Round 1… I like it. Our D will be no joke! Round 2 is the time to get Pickens/Pierce/Metchie/Tolbert/Watson. Let’s goooooo!!!!!

As someone that wanted 2 WR's in the first round, I'm loving the 2 picks. Much like 2020, the WR's were gone for it to make sense to reach.

The Packers defense just got really strong. Rodgers is going to have to work a little harder, but he should gave a shorter field to do it in.
