Assuming he is cleared to play following the surgery...

I think he should announce soon that he intends to play next season for the Packers. This would allow him to enjoy the off-season w/o having to hide in a tree-stand etc. to avoid "the question"

He said himself after the game Sunday - "the three hours on Sunday are easy" - it's the rest of the prep and practice grind that understandably are taking their toll.

I don't see management making any off-season moves that they would or would not make if Favre or Rodgers were the QB. That said what prevents Favre from re-thinking things after mini-camp or even the start of Training camp? No it wouldn't be popular but other players have certainly done it.

Personally I think he'll be back. He saw that team come together better than he expected and will want to be a part of where they can go in '07.

Putting off the surgery is a bad thing.

If he had it and was recoverying the pain in his foot would be reduced to just the incision.

Now he is making the decision with nagging ankle pain.
