    Hi Everyone!

I was a third-generation Bears fan who married a third-generation Packers fan. Naturally I converted (much to my family's chagrin) and we are going to the Thanksgiving day game in Detroit.

We're bringing our kids with us (ages 7 and 10) and were wondering about how Packer fans are treated at Ford Field. We'll be in full face paint and Packer shirts, of course.

I've heard there is some teasing, taunting and peanut-throwing. Is there anything more extreme we should watch out for? Can anybody recommend a parking garage?

This is our first Packers game and we are quite excited. :D

    Thanks for all your help!

Years ago I went to a game at the Silverdome.. so I can't help you with the parking, field and etc..

But for the most part the fan interaction was playful jesting and nothing much more than that.. Sanders had a good game that day so maybe that was the reason..

I went to the inaugural game at Ford Field and, aside from the pretty scary neighbourhoods that were about 2 blocks from the stadium, had no real issues, though things in the upper levels appeared to get a little more heated.

welcome Rebecca! As long as you don't provoke anyone you should be ok.

On another subject, my son's high school football team is headed to byron tomorrow to play byron in the quarter finals so I will be in your town tomorrow. Anything I should see or know about?

the area around ford field has been cleaned up quite a bit the last few years. There is parking around ford field and more to the north and west of the stadium. (known as eastern market). The ribbing should be playful, depending on your reaction and how heated you allow things to get on your side. the worst your kids should hear though is maybe some drunken cursing at the Lion's if we happen to be losing. you can also park at the greektown casino and then walk over, although it would be hard to validate your parking with the kids there (no kids in casino). you could also park on the cobo roof and ride the people mover (train) over to the greektown stop then walk north to the stadium. all up to you. It is a nice stadium though and you should have a great time. Our one national TV game a year.

Thanks to everyone for your friendly responses and help! I knew I could count on fellow Cheeseheads for the info I was looking for.

Sorry I missed you, trippster, we were gone for the weekend. Hope you had a nice time in our sleepy little town. PM me next time and I'll tell you where to get some good grub.

    I'll be lurking--thanks everyone! :)
