"So tired of the "elite" QB conversation...who cares?! If you win you're elite...if you don't you're not...it's real simple," Troy Aikman on Twitter this week.

It's no secret that in 2012 Aaron Rodgers' numbers have dipped from a season ago. San Francisco was a great defense, Chicago, and Seattle as well brought strong pressure and had decent pass coverage.

Against New Orleans Rodgers was lights out, his QB rating went above 100 for the first time this season.

Aaron Rodgers 2012 QB Rating

9/9 vs San Francisco 93.3

9/13 vs Chicago 85.3

9/24 vs Seattle 81.5

9/30 vs New Orleans 119.9

For the season Rodger's 95.7 passer rating is the 12th best in the NFL. The correlation is there between QB rating and wins and losses. Most fans and pundits believe Green Bay will improve upon its 2-2 record via the right arm and head of No. 12.. History shows that.

On the 2012 season, Rodger's 1,064 passing yards are 13th in the league. His seven touchdowns are just tied for 7th with six other QBs in the NFL. But last but not least, Mr. Rodgers is deadly accurate as usual. His 69.9 passing percentage is tops in the league.
According to the NFL, statistically Aaron Rodgers is the best "rated" quarterback of all-time. He ranks No. 1 on the all-time QB passer rating list. But then again Tony Romo is No. 4 on the list and the Cowboys quarterback has won just a single playoff game in his career. So a number does not show the complete picture.

2. Steve Young+ 96.8 1985-1999 2TM

3. Tom Brady (34) 96.5 2000-2012 nwe

4. Tony Romo (31) 95.9 2004-2012 dal

How is the QB passer rating calculated?

"The NFL rates its passers for statistical purposes against a fixed performance standard based on statistical achievements of all qualified pro passers since 1960," says the league's official website.

The traditional NFL quarterback rating, is based on four categories:
  • Percentage of completions per attempt
  • Average yards gained per attempt
  • Percentage of touchdown passes per attempt
  • Percentage of interceptions per attempt
That's just the beginning. You may need a doctorate in Mathematics to figure it out but many websites make it somewhat understandable.

From Slate.com:

1. Completion percentage: Subtract 30 from the percentage of passes that are thrown for completions, then multiply by .05.

2. Yards per attempt: Subtract yards per passing attempt by three, then multiply by .25.

3. Touchdown percentage: Multiply the percentage of touchdown passes per passing attempt by .2.

4. Interception percentage: Multiply the percentage of interceptions per passing attempt by .25, then subtract that number from 2.375.

The scores for each category are added together. That sum is divided by six and multiplied by 100, which converts it into a rating on a scale from zero to 158.3. A putatively average QB would receive a rating of 66.7 (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4, and 4/6 * 100 = 66.7).

Getting back to Troy Aikman, the former Cowboys quarterback was not in favor of the traditional quarterback rating system, and he petitioned the NFL 2004 to modify the rating. He also created the Aikman Efficiency Ratings along with a FOX TV statistician and another stats guru from Stats, INC. The Aikman Efficiency Ratings serve to grade offenses and defenses as a whole.

Leaders of the Pack

A.J. Hawk leads Green Bay in total tackles with 33 total tackle and 18 solo tackles.

Clay Mathews leads the team with seven total sacks, but he does not lead the NFL. Houston's J.J. Watt who the Packers will see in a two weeks, has 7.5 sacks.

Tramon Williams is tied for 7th with 14 other players in the NFL with two interceptions. Williams leads the Packers in that dept.

Cedric Benson is far and away the most used running back with 64 carries and 228 yards. Alex Green has just two carries and James Starks has none.

Jordy Nelson leads all Green Bay receivers with 260 total yards and he leads in receptions at 21 catches.

Power Rankings

Green Bay actually dropped a spot in ESPN's power rankings despite a 1-point win over New Orleans.

According to the network, seven other teams are better than the Packers so far this season. ESPN ranks Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, San Francisco and Arizona as the five best in the National Football League.

Over at ProFootballTalk.com Florio and the boys have Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, San Francisco and Arizona as the Top 5.

Houston's high expectations sets up for a big game on two weeks at Reliant Stadium on Sunday Night football against the Packers.

CBS Sports has Green Bay all the way down at No. 14, even behind Minnesota at No. 13 in its version of NFL take a guess. No. 1 is Houston, followed by Atlanta, Arizona , San Francisco and Baltimore.

CBS Sports are idiots.

And, though Arizona are 4-0, they are not in the top five for real. Power Rankings are useless.
